car stumbles under very little acceleration

hey I drove my SHO to wyoming and it would sputter or stumble sometimes when using the cruise control. If I would use the "accel" button for the cruise the car would sputter with ~1/2 throttle. If i turned off the cruise and just gave it barely any throttle the car would not sputter or if I gave it more than 1/2 throttle. Any ideas?
also, if I gave the car 1/2 throttle myself it would sputter.
So I know it has nothing to do with the cruise itself.
Other then that the car runs great
