My orginal 5speed transmission looked all the way up in my 1994 SHO, so I bought a transmission that came out of a 1989 SHO and I got to looking at it and it has part of the Cable linkage still on it, and I was talking to a guy on SHO Forum and he said I didn't need and addapter or any thing to make my rod Shift linkage adapt to my new transmission that I bought but I don't see how to do it, could some one help PLEASE...
thanks for the help shrug

There should be no issue at all. Look at your current tranny, the rod shifter mechanism will bolt right up to the '89 trans. The cable shifter parts have to do with the shifter in the car, and no the connection of the shifter to the tranny.

Oh, and ne other thing to remember. Unless it was rebuilt, the '89 tranny has the brass synchros (as oposed to the "paper" comnposite synchros), so it will take regular gear oil. I would recommend changing the fluid in that tranny, and Redline MTL works quite well in the older '89 trannies.

While you have the tranny out, putting in new axle seals would also be a good idea. Cheap and easy to do with the tranny out of the car.

Gear oil?? I thought it was just regular ATF that the early MTXs were designed for.
