Brake Rotor Upgrade

Here's pic of the new brake rotors going on the end of the week. These are the Raybestos R-300. Also going with the Powerstop Z23 pads. Really like them on my 11 Mustang GT, good stopping power with very little dust.

The Z23 pads fade quickly if you are doing spirited driving. My dust ready bad as well.

The best pads I believe are the stock PP's.

Our 16 is 90% daily driver so the fading will not be an issue. I've had these same pads on my 2011 Mustang GT for a year now and I have very little dusting, especially compared to the stock Brembo pads. The Mustang does quite a bit of "spirited driving " on the street with no issues. When the GT is at the track I do switch out to Hawk pads. The Z23 is not intended for autocross or track day events.

Ebc yellowstuff. I drive mountain roads all the time and ive never felt any fade yet. But they do dust a good bit. Non pp stock front pads fade quickly and r1 concepts fades were kinda in the middle and were cheap but hawk hp and ebc yellow have like no fade at all but do take a few seconds to get up to temp

The hawks hps, n ebc yellow work well once heated up. The yellow on my car lasted 5000 miles more then the red stuff, 10,000 miles! The hawk worked great and were decent to 20,000 miles. However the PP OEM is one third the price work well even when wet or cold, worked as well or better then red stuff, yellow stuff or Hawk hps. I have EBC brand stock type rotors(great)... I run PP oem pads (great) and fresh dot 4. I change the dot 4 fluid twice a yr....

Duralast makes some lightened, slotted and black in color rotors that cost $105 apiece. I'm a pretty big fan

I just ordered factory rotors (performance pack) for 75 bucks a piece. Pads 35 bucks.

EBC YELLOWSTUFF, PP pads are good if you are on a budget, but don't compare performance wise.

In the end it comes to your wallet and driving habits.

Always on a budget, but brakes I do try to be less frugal. The EBC yellow would be better at a more aggressive drivers after warmed up but not so much as 100 buck cost difference. Actually for me the difference was not so big anyway. I am mainly a 1/8 Miller or red light to red light. Mild turning fast, no real places around me but lots if red lights....

Good choice, break them in! PP pads are from Performance Friction PF144 compound (IRC lol) carbon fiber semi metallic (iirc), nethertheless an excellent aggressive street strip compound with little warm up for DD. I have used this compound one of my last 4 cars. Glad Ford picked up on it as OEM, great stuff, couldn't ask for better at 39.99! Yes there is better but overkill for my needs and usually so much pricer. My stock PP rotors lasted longer then any stock rotor on any of my cars and NEVER warped. I got 47,*** out of fronts. Rears could have gone longer but I changed fronts and rears at same time as the package deal gave them to me for free.....good luck update us in 1,500 miles....AND DO THE BRAKE IN!

Yep. Spend the money on pads, not rotors. Good, basic parts store rotors work fine, as we found out years ago among the SHO track guys. Personally I go for the better Hawk and Carbotech pads. Not cheap, but they work! Really, if you don't do tracks, nor live on a mountain with a windy road, good tires will do the most to better your braking performance.

I did install the pp calipers don’t know if the made a difference or not

That's what I'm running. No issues yet but they do moan a little under hard braking.

I can deal with a little moan compared to vibrating under hard breaking like it is now with 44,000 on the

If you're doing your own brake job, and the original rotors aren't scored, a parts store or brake shop can make a cleanup pass on them, to remove the brake pad buildup that causes the vibration. They'll be good as new. Then get good pads.

Thanks for the suggestion.. I have a lathe at work, but i like the look of the drilled and slotted rotors.. I'll give
these a shot and see.. Thanks again..
