I am looking for a shop in the cities or anyone that knows there way around a SHO. I picked up a 93 ATX and wanted to have it looked at by someone that knows a bit more about them than me. (once over or post purchase inspection) Car only has 84K on it but has been sitting for a while and I just had a power loss issue. I know that Courtney truck does SHO's but that is quite a long drive for me to drop it off and have the wifey follow me out (I live in Prescott). Anything to swapping in a new alternator on my car?

Hey, i am in hastings. I really dont know of many shops that know there was around the SHO. I have done all of my own work thus far. Including crank sensor, cam sensor, water pump, plug well seals, valve cover gaskets, struts, springs, tie rods, and a bunch of other stuff. If you'd like i would be willing to take a look.

By the way, you may see me in prescott, as i am through there tue-fri every morning.

if you were to drive to pine city, to Mullins Chrysler I know SHO's extremely well and could inspect it for you. its about an hour north of the cities, that may still be to far for you though.

Whiteman, nice to know there is someone else that likes the SHO's in our neck of the woods. I am pretty sure my problem right now is the alternator. I cant find a howto on the 3.2 but I see some for the v8 sho's. Not sure how much of a pain it is. If your willing to come out, I of course would make it worth your while. (Beer, money, whatever) Minnesho, Pine city is even further than Eden Prairie is (courtney truck). I truly appreciate the responses guys.

if its a alternator i would say that any good mechanic would be able to do it for you but i think it is a verystraight forward procedure and you will save some money if you can do it yourself.

When my alt died it was doing the same thing. It was so bad to keep the car running i had to keep it at 4,000 rpms on the way home. When the alt died in my camaro I had to have it jumped twice and since the car was so low on electrical pwoer it died in my garage... it was stuck in OD for about a mile. Check your battery cables and your alternator. Its probably time for a new one.

The swap is very easy. I could probably do it for a 6 pack and a #2 at McDonalds, depending on where Prescott is I could also take al ook at it as a whole. I'll be in the cities this weekend but I don't think I'll have any free time.

So I got a chance to take a look last night and after testing the alternator and battery with the volt meter, everything read okay. I cleaned the snot out of the battery connections and that seemed to be the problem. The only thing that didnt come back was the turn signals. Where is the fuse for the turn signals located? Maybe when I got jumped or when all this was happening the turn signal fuse blew?

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I did a search and I guess it may be the MFS. I did turn my hazards on and off and that seems to somehow cause the no turn signal problem. Dimmer lights and the wipers still work fine tho... It is just the hazards and the turn signals that do not work now.

You could try a new or used MFS. A new one with a lifetime warranty costs under $30 at O'Riley auto parts.
