Another new guy!

Hello everyone! Let me introduce myself: My name is Caleb and ever since I was 14 (which was only about four years ago) I’ve wanted an SHO. I’m not sure why an SHO would be one among a 14-yr-old's wishes for a car; it may be because I knew that, thinking realistically, an SHO was a very cool car that a 17 year old could actually acquire by paying for it himself. Last fall, I found one for sale in the paper. 1992 SHO, bone-stock, only 86,000 miles, 5-SPD, 24-Valve DOHC 3.0 Yamaha V6, …WAIT a minute! 86,000 miles?? That’s the lowest current amount of miles on an SHO that I’ve ever seen in my life. Anyway, this guy said I was the only person he’s met so far calling about the car and actually knowing what an SHO is. So anyway, I made an offer (after taking it for a spin for myself of course) and got a great deal on it! My previous car was a '97 Taurus GL, with over 130k on it, which I finally decided to sell to my friend's mom in order to buy the SHO. This guy who I bought the SHO from was also generous enough to give me four brand new winter tires and a different set of rims for free. Wow, I was excited.

This car is very fun to drive and fairly young in terms of the amount of miles it has on it for a '92. I'm from the upper peninsula of Michigan, so yes I drive it in the snow during the winter. Which means keeping it clean and giving it a good wash every now and then.

Welcome. You have a rare SHO.Whoever bought it new had the good sense to buy the important option, dual airbags, and not get the other stuff. The split-leather seats wear better than full leather, and I don't go for a moonroof , which potentially adds problems and noise but not much comfort (especially where you live). All this and my favorite year and color. It looks to be in great shape too. I think you're going to love this car, but if I'm wrong, don't hesitate to sell it to me.

Upper peninsula cars dont rust like ours do. They don't really use salt up there. Here, there is a quarter inch layer of salt on every square inch of pavement and it melts the snow...and the snow becomes salt water and it gets in every nook and cranny. It's a salt bath; Literally. Upper Peninsula cars are usually all highway miles, too.

Nice score, thats the first 92 that I've liked in a while. It looks like the mileage advertised, also. Great find.

Yeah...I can't exactly recall how much salt I've seen on the roads downstate since I don't make my way down there in the winter very often. Over here though, it can get pretty bad. Sometimes, even if it hasn't snowed for a while, those damn sand trucks will be driving all around town. The pics you see are after I had washed the car. Before that, we had just gotten a lot of snow, and the sand trucks did their thing, the snow started melting, and my car was a mess from driving it around town. Need to make sure I get the crap from underneath as well.

Hello!

Welcome! I too got my first SHO when I was 18. (Now 22) Just make sure you don't do ANY burn-outs or you will find out the hard way and spend a lot of time looking for an MTX tranny & alot of money to get it put in. Also keep up on the maintenence ,and last but not least keep as many poeple out of your car as possible. Everyone wanted to ride in my car then (as it was the fastest car in the parking lot) and it only led to alot of stupid things getting broken, rippied , etc... I still have it and i'm stripping it for parts ,and she will be put to rest at a near by boneyard.:cry: Had I known about the forum then, I would probably still have her in tip top shape. Thanks man! I'll keep it in mind. For one thing, I'm basically a perfectionist, I try to keep my car as clean as it can be and I'm very careful about who I let in my car. NO SMOKING ALLOWED!! I know what you mean about people wanting to ride in it. First day I got it, some of my high school classmates wanted to take it for a drive...I let them, but only the ones I trusted.
