I've owned my car for about a year and I've noticed many times that after shutting and locking my car, the keyfob seems to be locked or timed out. I cannot open the trunk (with the fob or with the button above the license plate frame) for at least 15-20 seconds, unlock or blip the lights/horn with the lock button. I've additionally noticed that the remote "open windows" fob sequence works maybe 25% of the time.

I've replaced the fob battery and nothing has changed. Is this normal behavior or do I have a bunk keyfob?

The car should respond to the fob pretty much no matter what for lock, unlock, trunk, panic, global open. Passive entry functions are a little different.

Do you have a second fob to use? Since you replaced the battery you could have a bum fob.

The fob sends radio messages to the radio transceiver module/tpms module and this decodes and relays the message to the car. In addition to the fob there could be other faults in the system.

I have a similar problem with my car, sometimes when I turn off the car and close the doors the key fob won't work not matter what buttons I press until the lights time out and turn off then the key fob will work. Other times it works like it should, so I've gotten used to locking the doors from the inside of the car before I close the door.

I bought an aftermarket one and had it programmed but my wife uses it and haven't had a chance to test it myself yet. I'll check it out and do some more testing.
