You need to post in the Generation 4 section to get applicable answers. This section is the older cars from the 90's

I'm actually installing new brakes today. Went with Centric blanks and Powerstop Sport carbon/ceramic pads from Rockauto.com. I was going to do the 2013+ upgrade, but figured I'd give this a go since I never track or do triple digit speeds (well, not often at least...).

I also own a 2011 non-PP SHO and like everyone else found the brakes to be very inadequate and constantly needing attention. After MUCH searching and reading everything I could on the Forum I recently completed the upgrade that was LONG overdue. The results were outstanding for my needs (I do not track the car but drive “moderately-aggressive”).

There are several options in terms of how far you can go with the upgrade depending on your skill, available free-time and wallet (e.g. replacing all 4 wheels versus front only, PP parts versus non-PP upgraded parts, master cylinder & power booster upgrades etc). I chose to only replace the front brakes and went with 2014 Police Interceptor parts. I chose to use 2014 Police Interceptor for searching purposes as it was much easier to be sure I was getting upgraded PP replacement parts versus non-PP parts. The good news is these larger and vastly improved parts bolt straight in.

There is an extremely helpful link that will run you through the complete procedure:

Replacing the front brakes is very easy to do (MUCH easier than putting in new plugs when I loaded my first tune). There was only one slightly confusing part that had to do with some clips that were attached to the new semi-metallic pads. There is a September 8, 2016 post in the Maintenance section of this Forum that says to break them off but they only need to be bent slightly as they help hold everything in place as you are assembling parts.

There are many choices for parts such as the rotors and pads but I am very pleased with the ones I chose (after doing as much research as I could). The rotors are 352 mm in diameter compared to my stock 325 mm rotors and the non-contact portions are specially treated to resist corrosion. The pads are semi-metallic and the best (for me) compromise between performance, longevity, noise and dust. Most of the parts were purchased from RockAuto with the exception of the DOT-4 LV brake fluid and the brake-hose-to-caliper washers which were purchased directly from Ford. Speaking of the washers, this was the only thing not mentioned in previous posts. I re-used my “old” brake hoses (and hence washers). On my test drive after doing the replacement, I discovered one washer was badly leaking. Don’t make a similar mistake. I believe the washers are included if you purchase new brake hoses.

Here are the parts I chose:

2014 FORD POLICE INTERCEPTOR SEDAN 3.5L V6 Turbocharged
CENTRIC 12065136 Rotors
CENTRIC 30616111 Brake Pads
MOTORCRAFT BRCF208 Caliper
MOTORCRAFT BRCF209 Caliper
MOTORCRAFT BRBC28 Caliper Bracket
MOTORCRAFT BRBC29 Caliper Bracket
MOTORCRAFT EOAZ-2149-B Washers (2pkg)
MOTORCRAFT PM-20 DOT-4 LV Brake Fluid

As mentioned, the improvement is dramatic, very cost-effective and an easy do-it-yourself job you won’t regret.

I upgraded my 2010 non-PP brakes to 13+ PP brakes + MC and it's a night and day difference. When the car was stock I took it on an aggressive drive down my favorite country route and it warped the brakes pretty bad in the first dozen turns. After upgrading, I've noticed much better braking and it doesn't warp rotors at all. After the upgrade a few buddies and myself were out on the same route driving aggressively and it was great. At the stopping point one of my buddies (who was behind me) mentioned on a couple of the hard corners my brakes were smoking. Even with smoking the brakes, no warped rotors or brake fading.

I cannot compare the 13+ PP brakes to anything aftermarket. But I can say that if you have non-PP on your 2011 car, ANYTHING will be better than stock.

I'm with you both on upgrading to the 13+ brakes because I was surprised to see my fronts are smaller than the rears! I finished the install yesterday, bedded the brakes and it's been parked since. I have a hwy commute to work so I'll see how they do. All that matters is a little more bite and no shaking rotors. If these warp in a hurry, then I'll do what I should have down the first time, upgrade to '13+ front brakes.

Thank you for your post - this has been very helpful. I am having a hard time find the corresponding part numbers for the rear caliper parts. The results I am getting for the SHO and the Police Interceptor are different, though I see that they do share the 208/209 for the fronts. Do you know or have you seen any info on the rears? Since we are fitting later years on a 2011 and every site tells me they don't fit, I dont know what to trust. Thank you!

As I had mentioned, I only did the front brakes and continue to be very pleased with my decision and choice of parts.

I included a link to another forum in with my original post which you should find very helpful:

http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,5654.msg89527/topicseen.html#new

The original author of this link lists most parts for the conversion as well as a series of pictures showing how to replace both the front & rear brakes using the upgraded 2013+ SHO parts. The only part numbers he doesn’t list are the ones for the rear calipers and brackets (although he does indicate and shows pictures of the upgraded vented rear rotors bolting straight in). I’ve copied below what rear part numbers he listed in his original post.

Calipers/brackets: got used off ebay.
Rotors: Ford BRR253
Pads: Raybestos EHT1612H
Hoses: Raybestos BH382852

One thing I don’t know is whether the compact spare tire fits with the larger brakes. In my case, should I get a puncture and need to get home, I know I can put the spare on the rear (since everything is original) and then put the rear tire on the front. Hope this helps.

Did anyone have a fitment issue with the new rotors hitting the backing? Did you have to grind anything off?
