    You can spin a little. With the stock Generals I would launch at 1800 and spin about half way through first gear. It still got me better 60' times than staying gripped to the road, as the Duratec has about 0.5 hp, 3 snail shells, chewy chips ahoy below 3000 RPM.

    Nope, the 3.0 is a bored out 2.5... they literally took the Contour engine and bored it out to 3 liters for use in the Taurus/Sable as they felt the 2.5 did not put down enough torque. You can even take the heads off the 2.5 and drop them onto the 3.0 to get a higher compression ratio and more...

    Do you know who did this? I assume you mean TCCA, and I'm a post hog over there so I usually have my finger on the pulse of whats going on. I know the Contour guys are doing 3.0L swaps as the 3.0 is but a bored out 2.5.

    Autozone sold me the wrong brakes!!!!

    In 1999 the Taurus went rear drum. I know this sucks, I am in the process of putting Gen 1 SHO vented rear discs on my 99 SLO. 2001+ Taurus have the 11.6" front brakes. The brake calipers for the 10.9" and 11.6" brakes are the same ones.

    The reason it sounds like you are losing bass is the muddy stock speakers are distorting and making it sound like there's bass where there really isn't. Aftermarket speakers also have bigger magnets and voice coils, and often require a bit more power to push them, so an aftermarket amp can't hurt.

    Yes it will fit. No it will not touch the sidewall. 235/40-18 is a good size. I know someone with this exact setup (with 18x8 wheels no less) on a 99 Taurus SE, lowered, and it doesn't rub.

    If it is already ticking I would suggest avoiding it unless you are getting it free. There are plenty of gen 3 SHO's in Ontario, I recently saw a black 98 with 135,000 kms on it for $9900. Which annoys the crap out of me because I bought my 99 Sable for that price a year ago with 137...

    It might have helped to market it independently of the Taurus line, although it would require more aesthetic differences than mere front and rear bumpers to fool even the most naive car buyer.     There is no "dash kit" for a gen 3 with automatic climate controls. I neglected to mention the auto climate controls because I figure since all SHO's came with them it would be assumed. As for the wiring harness, why would you need one? Chances are you don't want to use the stock 24 gauge...

    By ircm you are talking about the thing that opens your secondaries? He said that the computer is storing no codes. Have you had your starting/charging system looked at? It could be something as simple as that. Or perhaps an ignition mod (if the SHO has one lol...) Shoot us some more info on it...
