Replaced clutch, 91 mtx, no freeplay???

when I looked at the old trans after removal the bushings on the TOB fork shaft were worn out badly causing the TOB to bind on the sleeve. The sleeve was broken off at the base of the case. I machined new brass bushings and installed the complete clutch kit w/ sleeve. My problem or question is...

No, this is on the shaft in the transmission that pushes the throw out bearing.

Are plastic bushings the only kind of bushing that they make. Sure seems to me they would have something better then that. Like brass bushings. Any help appreciated!
