    Are you using compressed air to keep the valves up during the seal change? Check for play valve to guide if you can (make sure that cylinder is at TDC) without the air.

    Depending on your install temperature, don't leave a very large gap. I bought a NOS one, thought I was leaving a tight gap, and after the sun hit it a couple dozen times it shrank like crazy opening a one inch gap. Higher install temperature means use a smaller gap than the manual calls for.

    I have a couple of the more modern gearotor Bosch fuel pumps kicking around new in box. This style of pump avoids creating pressure spikes at the fuel rail eg the flow is smoother than the stock style pumps.
