    "Normal" steering rack

I have had my 3rd gen subframe and rack swap in for a little while now. I have a small dead spot in the steering and seeing that I have never actually owned or driven a 3rd gen, how much play in the steering is "normal" for a 3rd gen setup?

Putting cruise control back in the 90

It depends on what was removed. There are two other airbag sensors on the lower corners of the car and the module that is to the right of the glove box.

I saved that entire connector book.

    BACK seat swapping

The only thing that is a direct swap is another Taurus. The Sables year for year had different style seat backs. The odd thing is that the 1st gen Sable back seat (minus the head rests) will fit the 2nd gen Taurus much better than the 2nd gen Sable and vice versa.

    repaint exterior

I would definitely go for a good detail and paint correction over a repaint. You will spend no less that $5000 for a paint job that can be considered "OEM quality"

How do I know if struts are good or bad?

I second that Quickstruts are no good for performance.

Windstar and Taurus knuckles & brakes cross referance

The main difference between the Windstar suspension and the Taurus suspension is that the lower control arms are longer on the Windstar by about 3".

    removing window guide/rear "wing" window.

Also, if you screw up the run channels they are the same on all Taurus/Sable from 89-95. The chrome strips that are on most models is a separate part.

    removing window guide/rear "wing" window.

The rear quarter windows on 1st gen cars are NOT bolted in. They are glued in with urethane like the windshield and are VERY hard to get out without the proper tools. As for the door handles, use a small punch to push the center pin out of the rivet and the drill the head off from the outside...

    Gen 1 Black housing headlights?

You would do it the same way. You will also get less light out of the headlights if you paint everything black. I would just do the parts that are not chrome finished.

Get some Leatherique for those seats.

    Re-upholstering

All the 1st gen seats are different. The bolsters got progressively smaller each year. Also, the '89 headrest are different than the 90-91 headrests. All of the 2nd gen seats are the same. You can swap any years upholstery over to any other year if you switch the bolster parts with them though.

Gen 2 Dash and interior in Gen 1

The headliners, "C" piller covers, and the package tray won't work. To get the door panels to work you will have to get the door handles, actuator rods and for the rears the handle mounts.

    R asfb front/rear specific?

On the part that went on top of the subframe. They were cup style bushings.
