I've have the same problem, Its the valve cover garnets. You need to replace them. Might as well get the valve cover gasket as well. It cost me 90 dollars for the garnets and gaskets from Advance Auto Parts. I've having the work done because i don't have time. Its about a 3hr job, might as well...
gap was set correctly however its still not firing. Do you think that my DIS ignition module could have been fried when the crank sensor got all chrewed up?
Ok thought I would start fresh. The timing belt was just replaced. When the timing belt went it took the crank sensor with it. It was replaced. The car turns over and the tach comes off the 0 when it turns over (about 600-800 range) but won't start. Any ideas what could be causing this?
he didn't air gap it proper so hes going to do that and see. I also told him about turning it over and check to see so hopefully I'll know soon if thats it. thanks
after looking in the book we found a blue fuseable link that is blown so going to replace that tomorrow and see if that doesn't fix it. Thanks I'll let you know.
well i'm have a time with this car! the timing belt was shreaded. Along with it went the crank position sensor. It mangled it up like spegetti. Well after replacing the new crank and cam seals and the new crank position sensor the timing belt was replaced and everything was slapped back...
Thanks guys. It was my timing belt. My local mechanic only charges 40 bucks an hour and he said that its only a 3.5hr job so it looks like this is only going to cost me about 140 for labor and whatever the belt cost. Since its going to be part I'm going to have some other work done as well...
