    Shosource has repairs for the cables. Make sure you order the correct one. They are different depending on if it's the forward and back cable or the side to side cable. -Chad

    You want to remove any sharp edges to prevent premature detonation. The grooves will not be a problem but you want to at least file down anything that you can feel with your fingers. -Chad

    Cleaning the short block

    Soak the pistons with Seafoam or Berrymans and then use a razor blade or a scraper to remove the rough build up. I use a blue or green scotchbrite roloc disk to follow up and to remove gasket material. Scotchbrite is not aggressive enough to remove metal. -Chad

    Welcome in! I have a soft spot for the V8 SHOs as a 97 was my very first SHO way back when. It's the only V8 SHO that I've owned out of over 70 at this point but I did own it twice 18 years apart. Guy I sold it to back in 2006 sold it back to me in 2023 and I sold it back to him in 2025. -Chad
