That's turn 5 at Thunderhill I believe. Ran a 12 hour enduro there once, I love that place and Infineon (Sears Point) but usually run the SoCal tracks myself (Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Cal Speedway).
<threadjack>Jason, are those Dynalite IIs? I was thinking of making some adaptors to run...
I may try installing just the fronts and see where the car ends up. I don't want the rear too much lower, but bring the front down an inch and a half and I'll be happy as I want to retain as nice a ride as possible (guess I'm getting old!).
PM me and I'll gladly send them to your email once...
True, when a FWD car does step out give it a little more gas. From what I have heard when the rear comes out due to hydroplaning, it's nearly impossible to catch.
I race a FWD car, and have raced in the rain (on semi-slick race tires - Shaved Toyo RA1s). When the car just lost grip in the...
This may sound strange, but don't put the worn out tires on the back. Having less treadwear on the rear will make them hydroplane much quicker than the fronts, and when the rear steps out it will not be catchable. I know what you are thinking, than if you put them in the front you'll loose the...
Guess I'm the biggest?
Just posted this here a few days ago - 19's on my '89.
19 inch Axis Hiro with 245/35r19s. Yea, they are a bit heavier than 17s or 18s, but I think they look pretty sweet:
(Eibachs are on the way.....)
Besides, I keep the Volk TE37s or the Axis Mag-Lites for...
These sell for $335 each, but I could get them down to $1200 for the set for anyone here. They have *TONS* of caliper clearance, I have a buddy with some sick brembos on a Ford Ranger (of all things) that may let me have them when he parts out his truck. Even his Brembos will fit!
Guilty as charged. I always crumble under cross exam  Actually I stated it seemed more dependant on how straight the wheel was pointing, and the faster I am going, the straighter the wheel is - so in an indirect way it is speed dependent I guess.
True, wheel imbalance is usually between...
The wheels weigh 26 pounds. I race with NASA and my co-driver works at Eibach, so I am getting them for a really good deal ;-)
I may only run Eibachs in the front, to give the car some rake. I still want a comfortable ride, as I use this car as my daily driver and usually drive from LA to San...
It's not really speed dependant (so I know it's not a wheel balance issue).
It even does it from a stand still. The faster I go, the less it vibrates (and usually the less I am turning as well). On freeway onramps I can get a pretty good shake going.
I recently installed the aluminum subframe bushings and discovered a shimmy in the front end when accelerating. Driving straight it's slightly noticable, turning left it isn't noticable, but turning right it is pronounced.
I'm guessing the right side axle is the culprit, perhaps it is...
I just put some 19" Axis Hiros on my 1989 SHO. Wheels are 19x8.5, 5x108 with a 35mm offset. I'm running 245/35r19 Nittos. I just had some other work done to the car, including a centerforce clutch and the aluminum subframe bushings.
The fronts fit no problem, I had to cut the lip away on the...
Purrs like a kitten, pulls like a tractor!
Well, it was a long day, but worth it!
Took the intake manifold off as I figured it would be the easiest way to make sure everything is alright, glad I did. Found the runners and the head to be all gunked up with all kinds of oil
SO I...
Yea, both cats were replaced with a single cat in a custom y-pipe.
If I jump on the throttle and stay in it, it will continue to hesitate. If I ease into the throttle and eventually go full throttle it stays fine. If I jump on the throttle and it starts to hesitate, then I ease back out of...
