I have a 96 and I want to transplant the vented rotors and calipers from a 89 onto the 96. I know the rears dont do much stopping but they look cool. Has anyone attempted this and what is involved?
There are tools to hold the cams in place while the timing chains are installed, but the job can be done without them, just takes some patience, and maybe a few tries. All the marks need to be lined up perfectly as you only get one try. The procedure is outlined in detail in the shop manual...
Not sure what you are referring to, but if you are talking about a Gen 3 SHO, it is much easier to have the existing cams welded in the car. If you remove the cams, the engine needs to be retimed. Let me know what you have.
Jack the front passenger side of the car up and put it on jackstands, but loosen the lug nuts on the wheel first. Then remove the wheel, and take out the plastic liner. Should see the bolts holding in the alternator. Good luck.
