Psh, considering it was that simple and involved Bab, I'd say your ride home was uneventful. I don't know, maybe he is right, he is now just Bab, the Bad Luck seems to be dwindling.

Hmm. And I've been looking for ideas for a vanity plate..... "JSTBAB"??

Actually, considering the miles the SHO has done pretty well. Last year was simply a bad battery and very poor warranty/road-side assistance program, this year a bad alternator under warranty that NONE of their stores have in stock. And in both cases were AutoZone parts that were still under warranty.

The thing that irritates me, is that I would have had to wait TWO DAYS AT MY EXPENSE, to get a replacement for my lifetime-warranty alternator. If I didn't have other [time] obligations, I would have sat the two days and then demanded reimbursement since they could not provide a replacement part in a "timely" manner.

What irritates me the most, is that I have been repeatedly told "your battery and alternator are fine . . . .", when in reality they simply blew-me-off until the items failed. I have to wonder if I would have gotten the same responses, if they were competitors' parts or were no longer under warranty.

Keith, you should really start thinking about bringing a spare CAR with you to Carlisle from now on!

Uneventful? You apparently haven't heard about our little stop on the way home... :shakehead

Autozone assumes that the lifetime warranty will not be used majority of the time as the purchaser will get rid of the car. Mistake on their part. I bet you are right though, if it was a Napa part or not under warranty, they would test out to be bad.

JSTBAB BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nah, just in remission. Kinda like ******. BLF'nB will have flare-ups, it's not a question of if, just when... Oh, and who will he be with...

Wow! Quite a bit of stuff happening. I guess our drive home was pretty lax. We stopped in Elkhart Indiana as well for storms to pass as Tom's wipers were pretty much non-existent. Other than a second storm that put Andy and I behind due to very heavy rainfall, we only had the no AC issue and an exhaust that is loose yet again.

Now to find an AC hose.......................

And....................can't wait till next year!!!!!!!!:)

When I drove out to Chicago for Tony's wedding my credit card got shut off because they thought it might have been stolen as it had been used in multiple states in a short period of time. They suggested in the future I call them to let them know when I'll be going on such a trip.

Maybe you should start calling AutoZone HQ before you get on the road and make sure all the stores along your route have all the warrantied parts you've bought on-hand! :nut:

WRT to AutoZone's "test equipment", I've never had much faith in any of it. It's often neglected, abused, or the employees haven't been properly trained or simply don't understand it. Same goes for Advance, Pep Boy's or most other chains. NAPA will be hit-or-miss as they're all independently owned. Often the best bet is a real garage with a real mechanic who knows what they're doing -- of course that costs $$$.

I, for one, before heading to Seattle, will be renewing my AAA membership that I let lapse 5 years ago...

There's a reason why all the ***** parts stores test stuff "free"--hardly any of them have any idea what they're doing. Not entirely the staff's fault, as most of the chain stores view hiring people with retail experience only. My local Advanced must hate me. I go in armed with a printed out list from their website to buy my parts. Usually they'll ask me what these are supposed to fit, so they can double check. My reply is usually "please just get me the parts, I'll take the hit if I f'd up". The latest story of stories was when I returned my rear strut mounts under warranty and asked for a refund. They told me they didn't have the cash to do it. It was $48. So, I waited ten minutes or so until they made a few sales and got my money. :)

No matter how you slice it, I smell shenanigans from the chain stores!

When in doubt, it never hurts to figure it out yourself, or like Chris mentioned, pay someone experienced to do it.

Wow, people are already thinking about Carlisle...its like a year away. But I can't wait. As long as gas prices don't continue to go up, I think I will be able to make the 1/8th mile drive to Carlisle. :woohoo:

And here I thought it was because the hotel was far enough away from the Fair Grounds, so the back-lot "meetings" doesn't draw the attention of Johnny . . . .
