Good day to all,

I am looking at replacing my spark plugs and am wondering what is the best spark plugs to replace them with? Do I stick with Iridium or do I go with Ruthenium? Do I go with the stock Motorcraft or do I go with NGK?

Any and all help is appreciated. I only have 60,000 miles on it so I may be changing them to soon?

Also, I am due for an oil change and I have been recommended to use an oil that is API SN Plus approved oil and I have always used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic oil. Is this the correct stuff/ best oil to use?

I have done my research and it says it is the right to use and it meets that standard for twin turbo engines.

Are you tuned or stock? If tuned, I would switch to M-12405-35T plugs that are OEM to the Ford GT and gap them per your tuner's recommendations. If stock, stick with the SP-580s gapped at 0.030"

And I run Mobil 1 myself, have never had an issue.

Mine is stock and not tuned. I have thoughts of getting it tuned but I do not have the performance package so is a tune worth it?

100%, even for not performance. The feel of the car and pedal is better. I cant get into it here, there is tons of postings asking the same thing...

If you have, or are considering an extended warranty I would skip the tune. Given the complexity of the powertrain I would consider one (I would not normally consider one for most cars). If that's not an interest then there are a couple 3 tuners you can pick from.

I regretted every single untuned mile I put on my first SHO. Totally different car.

Making me have to remember are ya? Lol
Carving up some mountain roads first week i got my 13 sho new. Put my foot down out of a turn in s mode. Wtf car are you going or what!?!
The old ford dead pedal

Now if you turn hard enough and stomp it out of a turn with the assists off you can drift next to trees with a tune

M-12405-35T so is this the replacement for the sp542? seem the 542 has been depleted out of the system now.

I know this is an older thread but throwing my opinion in, I have a 2013 F-150 3.5 Ecoboost, installed ruthenium plugs at 100,000. Truck now has 150,000, no issues. Starts more quickly and it has been tuned for years. Biggest benefit to ruthenium I found it's not so much performance as is the gap remaining at setpoint for a longer period, which to me is great insurance when tuned. I'm installing ruthenium in my SHO this weekend. And it will be tuned shortly after. For me again it's the control of the gap for a tuned vehicle. Change the boots to, Ecoboost side effects cause degradation to the coil boots at around 70,000 and cause misfires, and in which in my case twice actually do it. I have owned multiple Ecoboost.

So you are saying change the boots on the coil packs? Isnt that changing the whole coil plug itself. Thanks for the heads up. Im at 63000 miles so im not there yet but am not sure when to do them. Ill have to do some research into the spark plug issues caused by the ecoboost.

The boots come off easily from the coil. There roughly 3-5 bucks a boot. The heat causes them to degrade and when you get ******* the throttle you can have a misfire that might be perceived as a plug issue due to spark blowing out. I did my plugs and boots over the weekend on my SHO, it only has 42,0000 miles and I had 2 boots that were stuck to the plugs. The car responded well to the ruthenium plugs. My 3 Ecoboosts all have ruthenium plugs in them now.

Its not hard. Spark is spark. You want the best conductor. Thats why i run silver plugs, or you can run cheapo coppers. Still tons better than iridium, platinum and ruthenium. Run ruthenium if you want **** poor spark.
Spark is spark. Nothing hard about figuring it out.
This is a boosted platform, you want the best spark that can be had period.

Yall bought performance cars, treat them as such. Gotta change plugs earlier and often.

That was a good article. Underneath all iridium, platinum, ruthenium is copper. I use ruthenium as it holds up to the heat and holds the gap at what I set it at. If I was taking my SHO to the strip, yes I would go with other plugs, but either way 50,000 miles is max I would run plugs in a boosted engine. I already swapped the rutheniums in my truck after 50,000 miles and the gap was still at .032, the gap they came with.
