Performance package yields practicaly precharged brakes anyway with the shorter pedal throw and higher pressure master cylinder.

Sorry just caching up with all of the thread comments but my 2010 f150 sunroof broke 6 months into ownership and needs repair. I did use it about everyday up until that point. The complete replacement is only $140 from the sunroof doctor but requires dropping and removing the entire headliner assembly. I settled with the sunroof on my SHO but did not want it despite using it everytime I drive it. It was a certified preowned and I bought the additional bumper to bumper ford warranty till 2020 or 75k for $1565.00 which keeps me from worrying to much about it.

i've had almost the same Experience. the responsiveness of the PP suspension on such a big car is amazing. Granted on a poor road its not so nice but its a fair trade off.

... I would like to think that the performate package contributed to my cars abilities but know that my defensive driving skills and alertness are to credit. My SHO makes me even more alert driving than my 1971 Boss 351 and especially my 2010 F150 lariat because the Taurus is such blast to drive. It is driving excitement to say the least...even my wife gets on it when driving it...she has always been reserved while driving.

Ford states in the owner's manual that the Collision Warning System is a supplementary driving aid, which is pretty obvious. I think it's a good thing.

COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED) WARNING:
This system is designed to be a supplementary driving aid. It is not intended to replace the driver’s attention, and judgment, or the need to apply the brakes. This system does NOT activate the brakes automatically. Failure to press the brake pedal to activate the brakes may result in a collision.

WARNING: The collision warning system with brake support cannot help prevent all collisions. Do not rely on this system to replace driver judgment and the need to maintain distance and speed.

Performance package yields practicaly precharged brakes anyway with the shorter pedal throw and higher pressure master cylinder.

It is my understanding all 2013+ Taurus vehicles got the better braking system/master cylinder, only the pads are different in the PP. Not sure about the claims of "practically pre-charged" and "shorter pedal throw" ...

No doubt the PP handling is better, but I haven't driven a PP car to know how much better. Have you driven a non-PP car for comparison?

PP brakes:
"2013 Ford Taurus SHO with Performance Package
The brakes get a larger master cylinder bore for a pedal ratio change that gives you less travel at the top of the pedal for a firmer feel, and the rear vented brake rotors are 30 percent larger. The already massive vented front rotors get dual piston 48-mm calipers with performance friction pads, and the pistons themselves have high-temp dust boots and seals that pull the pads more effectively away from the discs for less heat buildup."

"Braking, however, was a big improvement at 106 feet versus 112." thats 60-0 in the 2013 PP vs Non and the 2010 Non PP does 60-0 in 127 feet. to put that into perspective a 2015 Z06 does 60-0 in 99 feet.

PP Chassis and suspension:
"Chassis upgrades include stiffer front springs to reduce understeer and a front anti-roll bar that's actually a little smaller to get the car to roll and pitch in a more predictable and balanced fashion. The shock absorbers have been modified for better low-speed damping, and the electric-assist steering has been recalibrated for better feedback from the big 20-in Goodyear Eagle F1 245/45 tires mounted on distinctive SHO cookie-cutter style wheels."

PP Acceleration:
"About the only acceleration-enhancing improvement is the swapping out of 2.77:1 differential gearing for a shorter 3.16:1 set. This has the effect of adding 128 pounds of launch thrust to each of the four driven contact patches in first gear (14 percent more in each gear), with the result that it launches much more eagerly, and allows the engine to spend more time at its torque peak, which stretches from 1500 to 5000 rpm"

PP Cooling:
"On the cooling front, there is an engine-oil cooler, a transmission oil cooler, and a third heat-exchanger keeps the all-wheel-drive power-takeoff unit cool (gear **** is too viscous to pump to the radiator for air cooling). This unit draws its coolant off the bottom three (coolest) rows of the higher-capacity radiator. This reduces the temperature of the power-takeoff gear by some 75 degrees F, and allows the car to withstand 32 hot laps of Michigan's demanding Grattan racetrack without overheating."

this makes it pretty obvious to most that the PP is the best bang for your buck for this car. with that being said it would be nice to have adaptive Cruise Control. one thing Ford should of added with the PP is a HUD that would of really been nice.

I have tried to source the entire listing of parts number online for the PP package versus the standard SHO but have been unsuccessful. I have an insider at Ford I will be reaching to in the near future to see if he can provide to me along with me production stats on my car such as day ordered, day built,he will even be able to tell me how many my color were made and out of those how many have the PP. He can break it does farther to multi contour seats, sunroof, and any other optons selected.

I am sure the list of PP parts is extensive and will include a lot of little things too that we can not imagine.

That's incorrect, the 106 vs. 112 was a 2013 PP vs a 2010 PP, not a non PP. I can not find a 13+ test of a non PP car.

SHO PP
"On the road, however, we still found the pedal a bit soft for our tastes. There's still a decent amount of travel in the pedal before braking becomes a function of pressure, and it's not until that point that the driver can truly modulate the effort."

FULL MODEL LINE UP 2013+ TAURUS
"Other mechanical changes for all 2013 Taurus models include a ... larger brake master cylinder—as well as revised booster tuning to improve brake-pedal feel—and a sportier suspension tune ..."

PP Acceleration:

"About the only acceleration-enhancing improvement is the swapping out of 2.77:1 differential gearing for a shorter 3.16:1 set. This has the effect of adding 128 pounds of launch thrust to each of the four driven contact patches in first gear ..."

SHO PP
"This shorter gearing surprisingly didn't improve the SHO's 0–60 time (due to an additional shift)"

PP Cooling:

"... This reduces the temperature of the power-takeoff gear by some 75 degrees F, and allows the car to withstand 32 hot laps of Michigan's demanding Grattan racetrack without overheating."

If you track the car, fine. But there is no doubt 99% of SHO owners will never track their car, making the added cooling options moot.

this makes it pretty obvious to most that the PP is the best bang for your buck for this car ...

Not really, it's the best bang for the buck if you road race the car. Otherwise, it's not money well spent.
