Well, the right rear Koni is shot on my '89 SHO. I can get a replacement from Koni under warranty but according to the Koni support line they don't have a part number for the '89 rear and they never made them

I know there must be a Koni part number because I bought it from Tire Rack in '89 and Vadim used to sell rear Konis. Can anyone help? Can anyone please tell me the part number for rear Koni strut inserts for an '89 SHO?

That's for the long body Konis which should be what you need.

Yeah, Koni says it will take 8 weeks to build one.

So if I have Konis in the front, Eibach springs all around, what two can I put in the rear - KYB? Monroe?

Alternately, I'm wondering what is the stiffest strut I can temporarily put in my rear right while I wait for Koni to build me one. That has to be safer than the non-funtional Koni I have back there now.

Honestly, by the cheapest crap you can get while Koni rebuilds yours.

I'm thinking I'll put in a Monroe 71781 Sensa-Trac, they are supposed to play nice with my Eibach springs. I just hope I don't end up with the right rear corner a different height than the left?

Meh. Your not going to be winning any races this coming winter anyways, I'd just deal with it haha.

If you're that worried about it, temporarily replace both struts. If they're 24 years old, they all probably need rebuilt anyway.

hopefully they will rebuild them free since they are unable to honor the warranty.
No, Koni is honoring the warranty and are rebuilding the strut free.

BTW SHOspazz92, you don't have to read minds to be concerned about safety. Or do you assume safety is never an issue unless mentioned? Meh, your car must be a death trap. Remind me to never ride with you, cupcake!

Struts are ten years old all around.

Holy shit dude! Settle down!

And yea, safety is a big concern for me, and any SCCA tech who looks at my car a few times a month. So you can drop the snob attitude already, I was actually just trying to help.

***. Kettle. Black.

Why would you irresponsibly assume I - or anyone - was not concerned about safety? That's a red flag when reading your advice.
No, seriously, you need to calm the **** down. You're making this out to be a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

Put the Sensatrac in the rear, run the least amount of dampening on the rest, and don't drive like an ******* and you'll be fine.

If you're really that concerned about the imbalance, replace all 4 Koni's with Sensatrac's while the one bad one is out for repair. Or drive something else in the meantime.

And again - ***. Kettle. Black.

Seriously, you seem to be missing a functional sense of irony. :woo-hoo:
Not playing with a full deck, are you?

You really are making a mountain out of a molehill though. You're swapping out a dampener, not the spring. A different strut isn't going to affect your ride height, as the perch on both your Koni modified strut and the Sensatrac are at the same height, and the same spring is going to be used on both. Only dampening is affected here.
