I have had some interest for a Fall Lapeer Drag Day, largely from folks would couldn't make it in April, but also the Spring attendees.

Timing gets tough, as the STL BQ is the 20th. I am polling for (preferably) next week, 10/6, or 10/13.

I have 10/27 in there, but that could be shakey, as if we start drilling before then it would be canceled, as there's no one else I am aware of to run this event.

Anyway, lemme know!!

I'm heading to Buffalo next weekend to pick up my stang from my Dad's shop, so I'm voting the 13th.

I forgot, the Poll is set up to vote for more than one. I voted the 6th, but the 13th looks good also.

Ahh. Almost forgot, I will also be out of town the weekend of the 27th either for a track day at Mid-Ohio or headed to Buffalo, not sure which yet, but will be one of them.

Back in Michigan ... again.
I'm going to have to sit this one out. Trying to save $$$ for both a new car AND a house next year, plus I've just been running myself ragged the last few weeks. Probably cancelling my color tour as well :(

So, I guess this means no October trip to Frankenmuth for the chicken?

This actually ain't lookin' too good.....

Buddy Marty couldn't make Spring, he can only make the 6th.

Josh can make the 13th, but is out for the 27th.

Not getting any response from the V6/V8 lists at all, nor from my other buddies who ran in Spring. Figured now that he got the tune fixed, Jason would want to run the Duramax and get his 12-second-run (with an 8,000+ # truck!)

I'll throw it out to Facebook, but, not lookin' good.

BTW, the 6th is supposed to be in the 50s (GREAT!!), and the 13th is back up into the 60s (with the very preliminary forecast).

Prolly not. Michelle is going to Illinois on the 13th, I might be going with her or I might be going to New Jersey, but I'm really hoping I can just stay home. Last weekend was a wedding, weekend before that was a big event at work, weekend before THAT was the truck show in St. Ignace... ugh.

I have been following this thread to see where the interest is. I really shouldn't do any of the dates but if there is good interest in it I would try and go what ever day would work. I really would like to try a few more passes this year.

Well, this is sorta how it stands:

-- I would like to see your car run again.

-- I would like to see Josh run again, and he's only free on the 13th.

-- Buddy Marty wants to run his '97 SS. Couldn't make it in Spring. He's only free on the 6th, as he's visiting Mickey Mouse on the 13th, and his two Z28s are off insurance after the 24th (his birthday).

-- Haven't heard from Vince (Mach 1 & his son's SRT4) nor Jason (with the probable 12-second Duramax).

No other interest shown from anyone else.

I would definitely entertain the 27th if I'm still off work. The 6th is supposed to be mid 50s, the 13th looks like rain about all weekend, and in the 60s.

I can't vote because none of the days work for me. I'm booked until the beginning of November!

I'm actually going to be in MI on the 6th, Midland to be exact, but not until later in the day. Maybe 7 PM or so. And I'll have the truck. And the trailer, with a Scout II on it.

48 sec 1/4 mile FTW!

I "should" have the SVT back by Saturday, assuming the parts come in tomorrow. Had to get flat-bedded yesterday, looks like the alternator shat the bed. Only supposed to be 56F & cloudy on Saturday!

Doing a delivery? You coming across I-69 from the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron?

Yessir. My friend Steve, who used to live in S. Haven, then moved back to RI, recently moved to Midland. I'm bringing his diesel Scout II out to him. Staying out there Sunday and Monday, leaving early Tuesday morning to head back.

I've got another load to pick up in Queens early Saturday morning as well, so the plan is to go the I80 route, and pick up 23 past Toledo and head north to Midland, through Ann Arbor, Flint, etc.

Looks like Lapeer is about 30 miles or so east of Flint off 23, though I'm thinking everything will be said and done once we get to that area.

On Sunday afternoon/early eve, I need to head to Macomb to deliver, and on Monday, I need to get to Bay City to pick up. I'm thinking I'd like to see Saginaw Bay on Monday after Bay City, if it's worth the trip.

there are several construction zones on US 23 within 20 miles of the Ohio/Michigan line. They aren't too bad, except for the usual rush hour times. And of course, Friday evening will have backups.
If you want to unwind and take a more casual route may I suggest exiting the turnpike 20 miles west of Toledo at route 109, then proceeding straight north to Mich 52 thru Adrian and as far as Saginaw where you're only a few miles from Midland. Good 2 lane state road with a few small towns. You can completely bypass a lot of crappy traffic on 23 & 75 that way. I haven't been thru there in a year, can anybody chime in on constructiion info?

I'll second the construction on 23 as a PITA. Not sure about 52. If you catch 23 at an off-peak time you should be ok; it's definitely the quickest way north to Midland.

I'm about 35 minutes due west of Midland, FYI.

I would very much like to purchase a rocking chair, but I still can't use it. Car shopping this weekend, then instead of going anywhere next weekend I'll be in Mt. Pleasant Friday with our NASCAR driver & Indy 500 champ Gordon Johncock. My company is doing a big tailgating party for the CMU-Navy game; we're CMU sponsors now and Johncock runs one of our big machines. He's going to lead the team onto the field in our NASCAR Sprint Cup car on national TV. I'm figuring the stress of keeping all that straight will wipe me out for that weekend too. :bonk:

Thanks for the heads up on 23, I'll plan my route accordingly. I'm estimating we won't be in that area until late afternoon/early evening on Saturday, so perhaps the traffic won't be that bad. If it is, I now have an alternate route! :)

Chris, are you going to be around this weekend, aside from car shopping? That's an exercise in stress management right there. I absolutely loathe car shopping!
