Hey everyone,

I'm SHOstopper1992. I am a semi-new member here on the forum. I currently reside in Charlotte, NC.

Here is my story:

Back in 2005-my 8th grade year of school- A guy at my Dad's office offered his 1992 Ford Taurus SHO to my dad for $1! My Dad, being a Car Guy, knew about the potential of an SHO and brought the idea home to mom. She thought that a few years down the road it would be a great first car for me. My parents presented me with the idea, and I went and got $1 from my room for my dad to pay for the car with.

The reason why the guy was selling it was that he considered it an obstacle in his drive way, and he had no need for it.

We then took the car, put it in my grandparents barn on their farm out in Shelby, NC for a few years. Driven on a regular basis, the mechanics should be fine on it.

I joined the forum back in 2005 with the hopes of learning about things to do to it and make it faster back then. When realizing it, like all things, money is required. So I kept my user name and just didn't use the forum.

Now that I have some money saved up, more hands-on knowledge of cars, a better understanding of finances, and a job, I feel that it is time to start learning all I can about what potential I have here with my SHO.

I also have a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder WD21. I am on the Nissan Pathfinder Offroad Association (NPORA) Forum as NytrosFinder.

Facts and Figures:
-1992 SHO
-mtx or atx- I don't know the difference-little help?
-5-speed Manual
-163,488 Miles
-Red
-Alpine Head unit
-Leather interior
-Little Bit of damage on the Driver rear quarter panel behind rear axle- the reason why it was sold- Driveway obstacle
-Southern Car all its life
-No MAJOR rust on the car any where. There is some minor rust in places but nothing requiring to get the cutting tools and sheet metal out for.

Things I have done since owning it:

-Installed a sub system I had laying in my garage
-Installed My Cobra Radar Detector-Legal In NC
-****, Oil and filter change
-Top off other fluids
-2 Baths
-RainX
-Cleaned around the Engine Bay-someone got happy with a can of White Lithium Grease

Things I plan/like to do: in the near future(3-5 Months):
-New High Performance Plugs and Wires
-Replace Burned out fog Light bulbs and Tail light bulb
-Paint the SHO engravings on the Bumper and Doors White or Black- still trying to decide
-HID's-8000k
-LED Tail lights/Smoke tail lights
-Tint-35% Front, 25% Back, 25% "Triangles", 35% back window
-Fix rip in back seat from previous owner's mistake
-Fix "smoke" in Gauge Cluster Glass
-Fix paint chips on Pillars
-Body damage repair
-Add on the Factory Spoiler
-Replace Worn-Out Components
-Replace Rusted components

Things I would Love to do eventually after learning more on the forum:
-Rebuild the motor completely with High Performance Parts/ Swap in better option engine with High Performance Parts
-Turbo/Supercharge
-Nitrous Oxide
-Aftermarket Cold Air intake
-Aftermarket Strut Bars
-Aftermarket Sway Bars
-Aftermarket Speakers
-Aftermarket Brake Rotors and Pads
-Aftermarket Exhaust
-Engine Dress up

Things I would like to accomplish while here on the forum:
-Learn all I can about my SHO
-Learn all the random, weird, odd, or amazing facts about the SHO
-Learn about Aftermarket Parts
-Learn about things, procedures, or processes specifically to the SHO
-Meet people in the North Carolina/South Carolina area.

A few Questions I need answered:
-I have over 150,000 miles on the car, what things should I look at for replacing, getting checked out, or taken care of before making this my official Daily Driver?
-What is the difference between MTX and ATX?
-What rare parts are there for these Cars?
-Why did Ford Partner up with Yamaha to build these cars?
-What other random things should I know about my SHO?
-What members live near me?
-What do these cars run Stock in the Quarter mile?

Here are a few Pictures of my Car:

That isn't my real license plate, that was one just so I could take it to get it inspected.

Here is the body Damage I mentioned, It's not as bad as the camera makes it to be:

I look forward to getting to know the other members here on the forum as I get to learn more about our SHO's that bring us together as a family and friends. I will try to do my best not to ask dumb questions or become a nuisance as I learn as much as I can.

Thanks for Accepting me,

Things to make a good DD: Suspension, brakes, 60K tune up, Rod Bearings.
MTX versus ATX: Manual tranaxle versus Automatic
They got in bed together for another (mid engine, 34??) project and Yamaha made them honor it.
Randon things to know about the SHO: yes
The closest member to you is in your pants, lol
~15+ seconds unless you know how to launch a FWD 5-speed!

A. This will be your first fatal mistake!

lowc- I plan on investing in service first-found a small coolant leak today. As far as burn outs, I don't plan on doing any of em cause I have to pay for everything on it...

Just try to make it if you can, The SHO meets are always really fun especially if you have never been to one (Where else are you going to see 15+ SHO's in one place at a Time?).

Thanks for the support and welcoming everybody! I have spent every day looking around the car, touching up a few things, finding things that make me wanna punch something, and things that make me love it more.
