I attempted to install my excalibrator tonight and the install failed, I got the error message program failed. I tried several times. I followed the instructions to reinstall the factory program and it says it completed it, but the car cranks but will not start. HELP. I tried installing the custom program at least six times and reinstalling the factory program at least six times. Any ideas?

Did you forget to flip the fuel switch again after installing? Did you flip it in the first place?

I did not flip the fuel switch (is it the inertia switch in the trunk like in my Mustang). I will check it. I did follow the instructions and pulled the fuses for the fan and fuel pump relay before I installed it, and then reinstalled them.

Further follow up: I checked the shut off switch in the trunk, it was not tripped. I tried reinstalling the custom tune, I get the message program failed. I reinstalled the factory tune, and the xcalibrtator runs through all of the steps but the car will not start (it cranks but does not start). I did follow the instructions and pull the big fuses for the fan and the fuel pump from the power distribution box under the hood in doing this.

Any other ideas?

Bob, so sorry to hear that you're having problems.
I got the XCal 1 and had no problems with the install.
It was just plug in and push the button.
No where in the instructions did they ask me to pull any fuses.
So I didn't.

Checked all of the fuses and relays, all seems in order. I tried a couple of the other functions on the xcalibartor and they did not work, such as check codes. I got an error message each time. I will check the SCT web site and try calling FPS.

It's not flooded is it? Try cranking with the gas pedal floored.

It is not flooding. I have made several efforts to start it over 2 1/2 days and alrady tried the foot to the floor effort. Anyone have any other ideas? The car is completely out of commission in my driveway. I did send a dump of the XC2 settings to SCT to see if they can find the problem.

Sure sounds like the PCM memory is corrupted. Maybe swap another PCM or go to the dealer and have them reburn your PCM. I would try to swap in another PCM first.
