Some time ago I parked my `92 SHO and heard a 'whirring' sound while walking away. I opened the hood and determined the wiper motor was running constantly, the arms were not moving. I unplugged the two wiper motor plugs and all was quiet. At the time I was only driving the SHO in good weather (dry) and put the wiper issue on my SHO’s 'to do' list. Fast forward to recently, I am now driving the SHO on a regular basis. Multiple times I tried to get a better idea of exactly what is happening by connecting the plugs and each time got different results.....

Situation A: I connect the plugs and instantly the motor starts running constantly with the switch in the off position. However, when the switch is positioned anywhere but off (intermittent, low, or high speed) the motor stops running constantly and everything works perfect. As soon as the switch is moved to the off position the motor runs constantly and nothing moves.

Situation B: I connect the plugs and the motor is running constantly with the switch in the off position. However, now the wiper motor is also running constantly in any position (intermittent, low, or high speed) and the wipers do not move at all. I can hear the relay clicking and the motor sound pitch change when moving the wiper switch from intermittent to low to high to low to intermittent etc.

I hope this accurately describes the issue at hand, if not please post up and I will clarify. I researched the forum for all wiper related issues and could not find any issues remotely close to this. My gut feeling is the wiper motor is the cause but before replacing want to rule out the relay and MF switch, if possible.....

Sounds like you got a serious case of f***ed up wiper stalk. Replace that biznatch and all will be well. Theoretically.

I originally thought the same thing but after thinking long and hard no longer feel as confident the switch is to blame, here is why. With situation A the switch operates all intermittent, low, and high speeds perfectly without a problem. With situation B I can hear the wiper motor change sound pitch which tells me the switch is still working. I hate 'throwing parts' into repairs at random which is why I'm trying to look at this from every angle.
