How is the wiper armature fastened to the wiper motor? I don't see anywhere to clip anything on and I have had my armature fall off at inopportune times. A good description or picture would be fantastic.

Its a weirdo C clip thats clipped on the motor shaft , its a special one and if you get this at the dealer - last time I looked its like 20$.

The clip will wear out at some point and everything will fall off.

Just so you know , in a 2001 E450 , its the same clip.

Thanks! I think it may be worth while swinging by a bone yard to see a regular Taurus. At $20 it'd be worth my time and money to yank one off of their cars.

I've got the pin pulled out in that pic... if you can pull a little tab there out and drop it on, push the thing back in and it should be good. that tab is part of that bigger clip. should be easy to see.

Oh, that's not the part I was thinking of. I have those. The part I am talking about is where the armature connects to the wiper motor itself under the black cover.

Keep in mind I'm not nitpicking, just making sure we're clear on what we're talking about.

-An armature is a component inside a DC motor.

-The wiper transmission is attached to the wiper motor shaft with a sheetmetal clip, similar to the clip used on the hood strut pins at the firewall.

-It's Friday. Woot!

1. By Jove! you're right. It sounded all technical and stuff.

2. The transmission is the assembly that connects to the wiper arms? If so, then yes, that is what I am talking about. The coupling of the transmission to the wiper motor shaft is where my failure is occuring. I'll have to rip that piece off of a junkyard car. From what I've seen when I look at it, it appears that there is still portions of the clip attached to the transmission.

3. I second that woot!
