Yes, Kirk, that is true, but as part of the emissions system, removal of it is a warranty voiding concern, or so the Ford people tell me. I also checked with the provincial emissions control branch when first considering doing this, and they indicate that from their standpoint, removal of the 3rd cat will cause the vehicle to fail the required annual inspection. I do not know how other localities will judge it, and it could even vary by who your inspector happens to be and if he is having a good day or a bad one, but in the long run it still comes down to removing the 3rd cat can cause a lot of problems for very small potential gain, so it might be smarter just to leave it alone.
