No, you should have no problem with the warranty. The only claim that could be denied is anything exhaust-related. But even then I don't see that happening.

After market mufflers are specifically excluded as items that will void American car manufacturer warranties, but removing any of the cats most certainly will void your warranty, even the 3rd on our SHOs, since it is considered to be part of the emissions system.

Yeah, they may try to BS you but they can't deny your claim because of it. When I had engine trouble with my car, the dealer tried to say that "the mufflers on this car are of a performance type, that means it was driven very hard and we can't cover the engine." Well guess what, they did. They'll always try to find some way to mess with ya.

Just take a look over your warranty documents. Is it a factory warranty or aftermarket?

Yes, Kirk, that is true, but as part of the emissions system, removal of it is a warranty voiding concern, or so the Ford people tell me. I also checked with the provincial emissions control branch when first considering doing this, and they indicate that from their standpoint, removal of the 3rd cat will cause the vehicle to fail the required annual inspection. I do not know how other localities will judge it, and it could even vary by who your inspector happens to be and if he is having a good day or a bad one, but in the long run it still comes down to removing the 3rd cat can cause a lot of problems for very small potential gain, so it might be smarter just to leave it alone.

The cars will pass the actual emissions test without it. Only fail upon a visual inspection and if they know that the cat is suppose to be there.

gluemaker, if you are talking about the flowmasters, don't hesitate. WITH the 3rd cat and resonater left UNTOUCHED, it gives it a much more aggressive idle and low end. As the throttle opens up, it still sounds stock to me though. This is where I BET removal of 3rd cat and res. will be appreciated.
Flowmasters on ebay (new) $92.50 shipped (+ $40 install)=$132.50 TOTAL naughty
BTW, I LOVE those fogs! thumb I have mine, just waiting for the initiative to install them!

The "muffler man" had to improvise a bit to reinstall the stock tips (adapter)... no big deal.
My tips now stick out about 2 inches farther... me likes! naughty

give me a day or 4...
My sho has been in the shop for a WEEK now... I originally had it in for a bad headlight switch... I got it back and the passenger side rear bumper is scratched up headbang
They have had it a week now... fixing there own carelessness...rather, "TRYING to fix"...
I have NEVER had a good experience with Carmax service center... and my sho has been there MANY times nono
Whats even *** er, is that my sho was there last year, and I got it back and the DRIVER side rear bumper was scuffed up... not past the paint... so I let THAT one slide... because I knoew it would take them forever to fix it, and possibly screw up something else!!
SOrry for the rant!
:D
I'll post pics. as soon as Carmax will "LET" me.

Does anyone have any sound clips of the Flowmasters on their Gen 3? Preferably with the resonator and 3rd cat, but beggers can't be choosers :)
