I have been trying to find one to put on my car for a long time. Other than the craiglists add in Indianapolis (with a whole bunch of other goodies), I have never seen one for resale. Hopefully, the seller will post a video clip soon. Wasn't this supposed to be the best sounding exhaust back then?

Well, "back then" it was the only one on the market It was stupidly priced. I recall them sounding fine but once cheaper alternatives became available no one bought them anymore. People would just buy Borla mufflers.

I know of a Borla that was installed soon after buying a new green 91+. The car has been sitting for years, isn't in very good shape the last I saw it, and was to be sold, eventually. In the Chicago area. Still the original owner.

Like Ron said, ~$1500 when new. After spending $500 on a front pipe most people didn’t go for the Borla. Besides the mufflers, you got stainless steel and mandrel bent pipes.

There was a perfect condition complete Borla exhaust on an ‘89 at a PnP in AZ when I was living there a few years ago. (Not to mention this SHO had a load of other aftermarket upgrades). I returned the following week to bring everything home and the car was premturely crushed. I was sooo bummed...

I just went through some early Registry mags. No price was listed by Borla or any vendors, with "Call for club price". I seem to recall a street price just under a grand. That was a LOT back then, the "Million Mile Warranty" (!) nonwithstanding. And guys coming from the performance car arena (Mustangs, Camaros) knew that the 32 hp claim for just a catback was bogus.

I didn't look that far forward, but I don't recall the first good y-pipe coming out until maybe 94-ish? By then, there were other exhaust options, including the SHO Shop catback that was rolled out about the same time as the y-pipe. Doug Mellum came out with his y-pipe around the same time.

I think it was pjtoledo maybe who posted a clip of a SHO with mustang GT mufflers on it? Sounded really good. I did put flowmaster 40s on my 92, sounded good EXCEPT for drone while cruising. Nice deep sound.

The entire trick to getting the V6 to sound good with drone or especially rasp was a big resonator When I traded a KY guy my 99 for his 95 MTX, he had just had glasspacks put on it, but the shop put this big fat resonator on it It sounded great! Resonator was white, with no markings. Receipt didn't have the brand. I called the shop down in Louisville, but they didn't recall what they used.

Too bad, since that resonator made $5 glasspacks sound good, it would have worked for any muffler!
