My tranny seems to make a faint whining noise when slowing down. I have absolutely no idea what it is, but it still upshifts and downshifts fine. Anyone want to give it a shot?

Fellow SHO owner,

Yes, my 97 SHO with 112,000 miles just devloped the same problem. I stopped by an independent tranny shop. The mechanic there stated that I needed new differential bearing. This is a "common" problem with SHO trannys. Seem like our "good friends" at Ford (are you kidding me) used cheap bearings. The aftermarket (or updated) replacement bearings are bigger and has a "groove" that better lubricates them. Repair costs are around $700.

Good Luck
