My 11 (non PP) was at 26.1 combined (mostly highway). My new 12 PP is at 24 under the same conditions (not surprising due to the change in final drive from 2.77 to 3.16).

Mpg

Newbie here with a 2011 w/ the pp; love the car! Not to impressed with the gas mileage.

When going down the interstate I set the cruise at 78, and get 22 mpg, give or take. What's everyone else getting for mpg?

After a tune from Torrie and a Hennessey Cold Air Intake I have gotten 32 MPG on the highway driving at the speed limit or 5 mph above. I have done this 6-7 times on trips of 650-1500 miles.

I am at the 22MPG average at about 60/40 highway vs in-town. If I run all highway I am around 26 MPG.

Are you guys going strictly by what the computer says when it comes to mileage? I've found that the computer is pretty optomistic when it comes to calculating mpg. Most of my measured calculations come out 1 to 2 mpg less than what the computer says.

Since this has happened regularly on my other Ford cars over the past several years and my dad's SHO, I'm assuming Ford has it set that way on purpose to make people think they are getting better mileage than they really are.

Gas Mileage in 2010 SHO

I calculate it by dividing the miles driven divided by the amount of fuel I pumped into the tank. The 32 MPG was consistent for highway mileage over severa tank fulls and over 650 - 1500 miles driven on 6-7 trips between Schenectady, NY and Detroit, and also Orlando. My computer has been off by 0.5 mpg since I bought the car new.

Over the long haul (40-50k) the 2 should be pretty close but the computer will be more accurate. Why? It knows precisely how much gas is going into the engine at all times.

Why is the gallons filled/miles traveled inaccurate? Because every time you "fill" your tank it's a different amount of full. If you do it until the pump clicks off, different pumps have different thresholds to what makes it click. If you round off you are always getting a different amount each time (all of which are "full").

I do them both (with an iPhone app) and I've seen from 16-26 mpg depending on where, when, and how I fill up. Average it all out and it's very close to the computer @ 22 MPG.

Best I've gotten is on long road trips on vacation with lots (12-16 hours) of highway travel. I've got up to 26, fully loaded, at 75-90 with the AC blasting. In town I've seen it as low as 16mpg which is about the same as a V8 or my previous 3.5L V6.

I'm sure not complaining as with AWD and the porker that she is it's a great number, especially considering it will blow the doors off 95% of the cars on the road. :)

If the SHO is anything like my Town Car, the click sure as heck ain't where I stop. And even if full is never exactly the same, it's usually within .1-.2 gallons of the top of the filler neck. On an 18 gallon tank, that's at worst a 3.6% margin of error. Which will be well under 1mpg.

If you're averaging over a number of fill ups and know when you're about at full, that margin gets even less...

It still depends. I've had some click and then I can put quite a bit more gas in there. I'd say at least a gallon or 2, depending on the pump. It gets worse if you're on an incline when you fill your tank as you could get slightly more ore less in there depending on the incline.

It's all an exact science as you never fill it up to exactly the same level each and every time. It's not like we can know we are putting in exactly 18 gallons each time as the tank is not graduated.

But over a long period of time I've almost always had the by hand and the computer to be very close.

I averaged 23.5 MPG on a trip this weekend from New York City upstate. Mostly highway driving, with a little bit of stop and go traffic.

Over the 36mo life of my lease I averaged 18.9mpg. I have no highway commute, so probably 95% city driving.

21.1 over the last ~3k miles (out of total 4K), mixed driving, 20 mile commute half on freeway, couple of 400 mile round trips Austin-Dallas. Got 27.3 on an Austin-Dallas leg at avg 80mph, but haven't seen anything that good since.

I used to get about 20mpg overall in my 2008 Taurus, so it seems to be a little better than that, and obviously with much higher performance.

Update after around 15k miles - now hovering around 19.6mpg. I think tire presssures are having the greatest impact.

I've only had my 2013 (non PP) a few weeks and I'm averaging 18 MPG and I'm babying it.

Business car, purchase in Nov 2012. So 16 months and I have 42,800 miles, so there is a far bit of interstate millage. Averaging 20.7 mpg on a 2012 PP SHO with stage 4 Tune. Heavy right foot. Happy to get the 20.7 average. Millage improved .3 with the tune despite the right foot. It is the go to weekend car used by the wife and two daughters for their shopping trips.

another update at around 39k miles - right at 20.0mpg. I never reset the computer so it should be the avg over the life of the car, but it seems too variable for that to be the case. I'm still liable to see it go down to 19.8, or as high as 20.5 if I drive a lot in town, or go on a long highway trip. Could the computer only be reporting the last 5k or 10k miles? My driving mix hasn't changed - still a half highway, half stop'n'go commute for most of the miles.

Just another variable to throw in the mix, MPG will vary based on what ethanol content you are using/buying. Straight gas without ethanol added will yield higher MPG in my opinion/experience.

New 2015 non PP with 1,200 miles on it. I put 450 of those miles on during a road trip this weekend. I ran 78 or better the entire trip with a few small town red lights to deal with. I have a heavy foot and love making the turbos do their job. I may or may not have hit 100 a few times testing the new car's acceleration.

Avg. 22.3 on the way up and 21.1 on the way back. I was ready to get home on the return trip so I did a lot more mashing of the skinny pedal.
