Whats the rectangle thing on the rear of the intake (93 ATX)

just wondering, I didnt have one on my 89, ifthis rectangle thin is bad, could it make my car not stay running?

Its the EGR pressure transducer. It senses the flow through the EGR valve and tells the EGR vacuum control valve to open or close the valve.

It is called the PFE (Positive Flow Electronics, I think that is what it stands for) anyway, if I understand what you are talking about, there is a 3 wire plug that goes into it and below it are 2 1/8" tubes going into it. It tells weather or not the EGR is functioning properly. If not, it would throw a 366 code (I believe it is the one for the EGR)

If you buy the part from Ford its called a EGR pressure switch. It works by sensing the pressure drop within the EGR tube from the exhaust. there are two diffrent ports and hoses one is for refrence one is for tube pressure it takes the two compares them and tells the EGR vacuum regulator to close or open. The vlave is either open or closed. It cycles open/closed to regulate the returning exhaust gases. If the valve is faulty it is usualy noticed by poor/rough running engine due to it leaking or being in the full open postion.

Full closed won't really be noticable other than a CEL code 332 "Insufficient EGR flow detected".
This is usually do to clogged nostrils in the intake manifold.

Actually it is a DPFE sensor on the SHO Diffential Pressure Feedback EGR sensor. just being a smartass
