theres a transmission code on the panel in the doorjamb on the car (i forget if its on the drive doorjamb or rear passenger doorjamb). on this silver panel there should be a section marked "transmission code". when you bought the VSS they should have asked you for it so they can get you the right one. if they didnt then bring it back and make sure its the correct one.

You list both an MTX and an ATX in your profile but don't mention which one you're buying a VSS for.

Post the part number of the part AutoZone sold you and which car it's for and we can give you more info.

Make sure that you get the correct one. Autozone got me the wrong one and I had to order the right one from Fordpartsnetwork.com. Just get it from Torrie and you won't have to worry about it...
