connecting the brass pipe fittings together used for my oil pressure senders. I have teflon tape now and at least 1 leaks. It almost looks like the leaking one doesn't have teflon tape. I might have missed that one somehow. I need something that can handle high temps and not corrode and breakdown from dirty and hot oil. Should I use the same stuff to seal up the oilpan to the block?

Teflon tape should work if you wrap it on in the right direction.(clockwise if your looking directly at the end you're wrapping.) If that doesn't help, I found some "teflon thread" at my local auto store. It looks like thick dental floss and you wrap it around the fitting directly into each thread groove. It seems to seal more reliably and it's rated for higher pressures.

I definately wrap is clockwise. It looks to have held in most places. There were so many connections I had to make. It's quite possible I left off the tape on one or two. Thanks for the tip on teflon thread.

For difficult sealing conditions I use a teflon tape and some paste type sealant.

I went with a pipe dope with teflon from Home Depot. I did a little reading in many places and most places said to use a paste type of stuff. From one site I got that teflon tape is for contractors to seal a fitting for water and they don't have to be resistant to much. All gas and oil fittings are supposed to use a past type of stuff. The pastes are good to like 3000psi in gas or oil. I'd pull it out and pick up a $1.99 tube of paste with teflon and do it again. I did mine and 15k miles later still no leaks.
