Just wondering how much is too much in your opinions. I've got a 400watt amp, and my headlights running directly off the battery. I just got some new driving lights and i'm thinking of putting them off the battery too. Do you think thats too much? I mean simply put thats 400+55+55+55+55=620watts coming right off the battery. What are your thoughts?

alright sounds good, i know the amp doesn't really take 400watts right off the battery but i was more concerned with the pulsations from the amp plus 220 watts from the lights and that overheating something or effecting electronics somehow.

is this 400 wrms or max? what kind of amp? because it may not even be a 400 watts but at any rate its safe to pull whatever power out of the battery, you need to be worried if the alternator can put back what you take so if anything look into a high output alternator.

Even using the wattage you posed that only a current draw of around 52 amps. With the proper wiring, distribution, and fuses you should be just fine.

If you're worried about it, I would put a 1 farad cap on the amp power wire. That will fix any problems that may come up. They're pretty cheap - about $30-40 off ebay.

Or you could simply fix the problem instead of trying to cover it up.

Even with all you have listed youre likely under 50 amps at full tilt. Youre fine. I dont know what problems you think you will have. Dimming? If you have dimming, you dont need a cap, you need to upgrade your big 3. Cheaper than a cap and it will help your car in other ways as well.
