Hello,

I'm brand new!..just doing some research wondering if you guys can help me out.

I'll be heading up the the track soon with this kid who is running a 98? supercharged SHO. As far as I know his only mods are an air filter and flowmasters...

Just wondering what kind of quarter mile to expect from this guy.

He also said he's looking into getting a "super chip" ..he said once he gets it he won't be able to do anything else to his car..that doesn't seem right to me but what do I know.

Do you guys have any idea?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. A normal gen III with little done to it should run mid, to high 15's. THe SHO stands for Super High Output. I think that you are confussed on what the name stands for. Unless he added the supercharger, then he does not have one from the factory. I wish that they did come with one, then I would have no problem eating your Grand Prix, just a joke...lol boink thumb

My previous car was a '97 SHO. They did not come supercharged from the factory.

My '97, with a K&N filter, Flowmasters and no resonator ran a best of 15.77@88mph at Epping, NH. This hot & humid weather really affects the way the V8 puts out the power. :(
Where abouts in MA?

I'm on the south shore...west bridgewater

I have never talked to him..my g/f works with him and they talk about his car alot..he insists it has a supercharger but I've never looked under the hood.

He got the car used..is it possible that some one added one?

Thanks for the feedback guys

Nope, it si not supercharged. Alot of people confuse the SHO with being supercharged, it is not. There are a couple out there that have been s/c'd but not near here. Ask him to point out the supercharger in the engine bay.

Well to say no that it is not S/C would not be exactly right because it can be added. As for it coming from the factory that way, no. He would be the same as many others who have thought that in the past. I have had many people confused in the past who thought that the intake runners were some kind of S/C part.

I guess I'll just have to look under the hood.

I went up to epping coupel of weeks ago and this humid hot weather doesn't help the supercharger either. My best for the night was a 14.7 :(
I should be pulling about that stock so I wasn't too happy.

He should be going up with me next time I head up.
I'll let you guys know if he infact does have a supercharged sho.

His name wouldn't happen to be Kirk would it? doh

There are a couple of forced induction SHO's up there. So I doubt this is one of them though.

With your mods you should be ripping off 14.2 all day long. If the weather is god he might get lucky and run low 15's. Don't count on it though.
