What are the chances...

...that I can get an O2 sensor out of my original y-pipe and replace it with a new one without breaking it? I am getting the code 91 and would like to replace my oxygen sensor but have heard of some bad stories.

Soak it in PB Blaster overnight. Go out every 4 hours and give them a shot of the stuff.

There is also a special socket, with an open slot that slips over the wiring. I think it's called an oxygen socket. (or O2 socket)

I just removed both old 02 sensors from the original y-pipe on my 89'(yesterday). Both were easy to get at, and gave me no trouble whatsoever. I used 7/8(or 22mm)" CLOSED wrench for the firewall side sensor.(disconnected the electronics and slipped it over)
For the radiator side i used an OPEN 7/8" wrench, and that one came off real easy. Installation of the new ones went fine also. The whole job took me problably 20 minutes.
