I posted this on the other forum also...

So I babied the car for the past 3-4 days to see what kind of mpg I can average in the city and still got 16.7 so far average. I feel like this is bad and something might be wrong but the car drives very nicely under normal driving. Well this morning on the way to work I decided to feel some power and got on it from a stop with traction control off. The car accelerated quickly but I noticed in 2nd and 3rd gear there was some hesitation in the upper rpms. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It only happens for a second, feels kind of like the car “skips” a beat and then it goes back to accelerating hard. I tried it 3-4 times just to see if it will keep happening but it always happens in 2nd and 3rd gear at least once or twice going through the gear. Kind of feels like something is holding it back. It’s just hard to explain. I am running 93 octane gas and the sparkplugs are brand new gapped at .035 which is recommended. Before the sparkplugs I had similar hesitation but less and I was hoping the sparkplugs would be the fix but it seems like this morning its worse. Does anyone have any idea? No CEL lights and the car drives perfect under normal driving. I am begging to worry here and the low mpg’s even while babying the car is worrying me. I called my ford dealer and scheduled an appointment for Friday but I am worried the mechanic will not see anything wrong and I will be at work so I can’t drive with him. (Just dropping off the car in the morning)

if you're tuned, you should be gapped at 0.030... 0.035 is for non-tuned

Also, I've occasionally noticed some hesitation at WOT, but only initially... current belief is a drive-by-wire issue, but yours sounds very different. I'd have the driveline looked at, but I'm not an expert, some others may offer better advice.

I am stock. I will have the dealer look at it on Friday i just dont trust them knowing what to look for plus I am afraid they will crash my car as it seems like they dont usually work on anything faster than 15s lol. I explained over the phone it happens under heavy acceleration so they will have to drive it fast 2nd and 3rd gear. Hopefully it all works out.

Did you ever figure the problem out? I am going through this as well on my 2013 performance package it is tuned by Livernois and plugs and sensore are all in accordance with the tune. Under heavy acceleration right before the shift the car skips.....almost cuts out.....really f**** me up when I'm racing people. Doesn't happen all the time either, if you found the problem out please let me know I have tried everything.

Yup it was one of the injectors. It was very hard for the shop to diagnos it but they finally figured it out after like 2 weeks of keeping the car in the shop. Good luck!

For some reason the vid is not working for me. The best way for me to explaint it is that it would feel normal and than all of a sudden skip a beat. It did not feel like a missfire tho and it was very hard to feel it unless ur used to driving it.

Yes that's how this is.....people riding in the car don't really feel it as much but I notice it and its only at the top of the gear before redline

I'd say find a Lincoln dealership in your area, Big Mike, let them have a crack at diagnosing this issue! Tell them you suspect fuel injector issues, if you want. Just be sure to return the car to stock tune prior.

Yea I'm going to try that I mean I have a 1 year bumper to bumper on it still as I only got it 6 months ago after I traded my 11' for it so financially I wonder if I should just go back to the Ford where I got it from and mention that I feel like its an injector issue

Ummm, sure, if you believe the Ford dealership gives good service, give 'em a try. Warranty should be valid at the Lincoln dealership regardless if it's a Ford-issued warranty.

Better overall service experience, more experience than Ford dealerships with the 3.5L transverse Ecoboost engines.

This was a while ago, but what did your issue end up being? I have the same thing happening around the same speeds.
