All right...this is the deal..when I initially start the car and drive for say 30 minutes, it runs beautifully and pulls strong. Once the engine has warmed up and the cooling fan had to cycle a few times, it runs BAD. Everytime I step on the gas, whether it be partial or WOT, it feels like a misfire or even pinging. The car will not accelerate and will **** slightly as the RPM's rise. I am using middle grade fuel right now (89 Octane)..will a switch to Premium fix this? Or maybe some fuel injector cleaner? Plugs are a year old and plug wells have no signs of oil. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like if it is a temp related issue, it could be the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Try checking your codes to see if anything is stored.

What plugs are u using?....if they aren't motorcraft oem they are no good

First off you need to pull the computer diagnostic codes to see if there is anything obvious. Check the link in my signature. Run the KOEO, KOER, and SEFI tests.

It could very well be an electrical gremlin too. A bad connection to the computer or the ICRM can do this, as can a bad computer or ICRM module. Also check the condition of your battery and alternator. Get them tested out at an auto parts store if you can.

My money is on the crank sensor or some bad wires, but run your codes so you can know for sure.

I don't know a great deal about cars..I just found it odd that it only occurs when the car is warmed up (It runs so perfectly for the first half hour as stated, or when it is cool). This is the first time I have had this problem..it used to happen only sometimes once the car has warmed up, but now it seems to happen consistently. I hope it is nothing too serious..Thank you all for your opinions and observations..I will definitely check what you all have pointed out.

MISFIRE RULE #1 - You have described an engine misfire. If you are not getting a CHECK ENGINE light then the source of the problem is either the spark plugs, the plug wires or both.

aww..that's no fun..thanks for all the help guys..i can always rely on this forum to help me out with the ol' SHO. grr..replace plugs and wires..had to happen sometime..thanks again!
