I had a battery light issue. Alt was good. Battery was good. It turned out to be the $20 Mega-Fuse on fuse box near the radiator.

It may have just been worn out? Make sure all the pulleys are OK and the bearings are good. The belt should be easy to find.

belt specs

I did find a few belts listed as "exact fit" for a 98 SHO on rockauto and advance. But they varied in the number of grooves and the dimensions. I know I need a 5-groove belt, but what are the correct length & width? Perhaps I didn't read between the lines - wouldn't be the first time! Searched both SHO sites last night for about 30 minutes looking for the correct dims, but with no luck.

The 3 rib belt is for the water pump.

Here's the rock auto data for the main belt.

6 Ribs / Effective Length 89.5" / Outside Length 90.25"

done . . . wasn't that bad!

Serpentine belt wasn't all that bad, maybe took 20 minutes. Used a 6" ratchet on the tensioner and the annoying part of it was trying to keep the belt from slipping off the top of the middle idler pulley while holding tensioner flexed upward and trying to hook the belt underneath. When I first got it engaged, I looked from the top and noticed the belt was only half on the middle idler. So a quick unloading of the tensioner again and a reach upward to push belt back on and it was Gojo time. Well, after the tire was back on.

I went with the Dayco 89.57" drive belt:

Helped to have this also:

So if (when?) I need to change the alternator, I don't think it'll be too bad.

Thanks everybody for the help and info!
