I rebuilt my 90 SHO motor with all new seals and after a few runs to Miami going about 73-77 mph for 3hrs constant Im noticing oil consumption.

I say close to 1/2 qt for 400 miles.

Around town and under 60 mph oil consumption is minimal.

I know the low oil level sender is leaking ... got a different sender assembly and a new seal and will see if that stops that.

I also noticed that my valve cover bolt rubber seals at the higher rpms are beginning to weap as well.

Does anyone besides using silicone have a solution to replace these tiny O rings that the bolts go through ?

thanks

You need to reduce the amount of crankcase pressure. As these engines age, the blowby caused by weakening rings, allow more pressure to build up in the crank case and everything attached to it, valve covers, rear main seal/ crank vent passageway cover, etc., etc. If you have no emissions inspections, vent the crank to atmosphere through a catch can system along with the hose that attaches to the bottom of the throttle body.

You mean to vent the throttle body line as well? Wouldn't that introduce unmetered air? Wouldn't you just cap it off?

The throttle body just introduces a little vacuum to the crank, not much, but still more than just atmospheric does by itself. And if it's coming out of the crankcase, it's already been metered, mixed with gasoline and burned and squeezed by the rings so it too is not going through the MAF, so no big deal.

The crankcase puts out way more flow than the throttle body line sucks in.
