Did you have the intake off reciently? The reason I ask, is I forgot the intake to head gaskets 1 time, and it made a huge vaccum leak just like yours.:nut:

Check the hose that run's from under the fuel rails, to the underside of the throttle body.

Haven't changed the IAC. I was under the impression that if it was bad, the car would stall, or wouldn't stay running.

Nope, the intake to head gaskets are there. The hose that you speak of, is in the middle of the heads, and runs into a tube right next to the knock sensor? Thats not a coolant hose?

Does it go away when you give it gas? My original IAC made a noise similar to that when it would idle hot, not that bad though. I replaced it, and 70k miles later it is still silent.

I'll give that a go. The noise is present once the motor has warmed up, and after awhile, the idle fluctuates.

Replaced the IAC. It idles much better now, but the noise is still present. Can anyone verify that the hose that runs from the bottom of the TB, to the tube thats in between the heads, is a coolant line, or vaccuum line? Getting to that sucker looks to be a royal pain in the behind. . .

As far as I know it is the PCV hose. What you might want to try is taking a pair of needle nose pliers and pinching the hose off a little while it's running and see if the noise changes. If it does then you know where to look. Just a thought...

Good point, but that hose is near impossible to get to while the intake is on. I remove the TB when removing the intake. I'll try taking the intake off with the TB.

on good thihng to do, similar what i did with mine, is when you have the intake off, clean it up and sand the matting points on the intake ( 800 was what i used) to help it seal better, and make sure you clean it really well before you put it back on

My current observations are, that the noise is present once the car has reached operating temperature. Anything below that, it runs smooth as silk. It idles great, there seems to be no power lost, and gas mileage seems to be the best of any SHO I've ever driven. I'll see if swapping butterflies works.

Fran (Mr95GL) brought the car by last night, and I heard the noise first hand. Given it's pitch and location, I really, really want to say that the leak is from one of the butterfly assy's. Specifically, from one of the butterfly shaft seals. Has anyone ever known these to leak? This is the first time I've seen a SHO make that noise.
