As a suggestion, perhaps you could have each of the shops offering aftermarket repairs / replacements / Services of the V8 SHO Cam issues to do a brief (*** word writeup), along with pictures / pricelists / options for services rendered & point to this over & over again for newbies coming in. This may keep the discussion civil, result-oriented, and as neutral as possible.
Have each of the shops submit the write-up to the moderator directly offline, have the moderator create the thread & lock it. This will keep each of the shops from "retaliating" or "one-upping", etc.
You can either specify to have them focus on the pros of their choice of fix ONLY (no shop- or method-bashing, or have it be an open "this vs. that" from each of the shops.
The ones I know of right now are SHO Shop, Ford Performance Specialists, Kirk Doucette, and Midwest SHO, but I'm sure there are others. As for Ford's response, it'd probably be their standard, "It's an isolated incident" or "Gee, you're the first one I've heard of on this...", followed by the list price of a new engine, new cams, and the book rates for each of those replacement services.
Thanks for your consideration.
