any tips for removing the V8 badges ?

what do you do to smooth over the obvious paint quality difference left by the badge ?

:help:

is it possible to remove the grille without removing the whole bumper ? the other day, losing sunlight at dusk, I tried to just remove one headlight and get to the inside of the grille but no go :nono:

anyone have a layout for all screw locations so I don't get impatient and damage my bumper ?

Once you start removing the upper bolts(underhood), you will see wich ones have to be removed as you go. The bottom little splitter stays on. Unless you have some crazy-a$$ screwdriver, you have to remove the bumper. Dig into it, youl'e see:) But ya, V8sho.com. I think you will like the look!!

The V8 badges come off easily with a heat gun or hair dryer. The grill and bumper cover does come off fairly easily.

There are three bolts underneath that hold the black splash shield to the bottom of the radiator.

There are two nuts, one on each side that are under the front fender liners that need to come off.

Take out the headlights by removing the three screws that hold
them in.

There is a bolt behind each headlight that attaches the front cover to the fender.

Then the three large bolts on top.

Pull loose, then disconnect the parking light and corner marker light wires.

Remove bumper cover.

Here is a great website with great pictures of a bumper removal. It shows all the screws etc. The guy installed a tranny cooler on his SLO, but the front bumpers are the same, right? Its just the spoiler on the bottom that makes the sho different.

Anyway, check it out. This is what I used to install my tranny cooler, and I am, how do you say it, mechanically "declined"

thanks to all , all very helpful :thumb:

yes I frequent v8sho.com, but to tell you the truth it can be kind of a PITA navigating for exact answers. for general understanding its fantastic, but when you want exact details and don't have 30 minutes to research , asking the question is alot easier and faster :salute:

oh I know I'll like the look Nik !!

what is it about **** poor weather on my days off ? I get a slim window of sunlight when I get home from work, and 90% of that time is dedicated to chillun with my kiddos. then for example this week, 2 or 3 straight days of abnormally warm , like 75 degrees and sunny, followed up by a Saturday where it is about 34 degrees and snow raining. it was muddy to begin with. and family inviting themselves over. when do I get to work on my SHO ? ? ?

thanks everyone,

though I had a **** night wherein my wife and I had to wake up repeatedly to my 6 yr old son's projectile vomiting sessions, and had to deal with the ensuing clean up , I felt fine enough this morning with no sleep to try my first bumper cover removal. badge removal will have to wait , but thanks, the grille piece is now gone and looks darn good :thumb:

and say, how do you post pics on this here Forum anyway ? I am supposed to be computer literate, or atleast thats what I tell my bosses, but it wasn't immediately obvious.

Hey do you have to take the bumper cover off in order to change the bulbs in the parking lamps/turn signals?

someone else can chime in cause I haven't done just the bulbs, but I would think if you took off the headlight assembly you could reach in and change it by itself. it would be tight but I think its possible

I found a large 45* bent needle nose pliers was able to get in there and twist the bulb holder out of the lens easily after taking the headlight out.

Hey, the picture of the bulbs, are thoes the ones that go in the bumper cover inside the headlights? They look clear, are they?

If they are where did you pick them up at?

Thanks
