Okay I've got a what if for you guys.
I come across the 2013 police interceptor 113000 miles, 3.7 l with all-wheel drive. That apparently has crank problems.

1) What would you pay for used interceptor.

2) Would you fix it up for personal use.

3) Fix it and flip it.

4) Make it a parts donor for a non-performance pack car.

Should be interesting. Cheers.

Edit: it appears to be in good condition and is about $1500 US ($2000 CDN).

I think all that would depend on the price. If it was dirt cheap it might be worth investing in.

I have an inquired what he means by crank problems. I would assume there's something wrong with the crankshaft and needs major overhaul. I've already talked him down 400 bucks (CDN). Problem is it's a 300 mile plus Haul there and back.

That sounds like an expensive repair. ARe you able to do engine work/replacement yourself or have to pay someone? Was this a police model or actual in service as a patrol vehicle? That's hard mileage. I guess I don't knoe the cost vs value of a used service vehicle vs regular use vehicle. Interesting problem.

With it being a police interceptor, it won't come with most of the bells and whistles of a standard SHO, right? No heated/cooled seats, basic stereo, Police wheels, you had listed that its not an Ecoboost model. So this really would be just a basic parts car.

At $1500 you're not set to lose too much on it if it's a total dud. Unless you plan to fix it, I would focus on which parts you want from it.

He confirmed it was a bearing problem. Not sure how serious, but assume the worst. It is an actual police interceptor. I'd have to hear it run to decide if it's terminal or not. If it's minor it's still a PITA getting the pan off with the engine in the car.
On the other hand. The 3.7 l all-wheel drive police interceptors came with the 6F55 transmission.

With talking him down in price that works out to about 1200 US dollars. Yes you're correct it's not an EcoBoost model. It has all the performance parts on it that my MKS is lacking. Larger brakes and heat resistant calipers, up rated cooling system, oil cooler, PTU cooler and heavier duty springs and shocks/struts. mind you it said 2014 so I would have to change the steering knuckles to use the suspension pieces. Not sure if the rear shocks had the same Mount in the later years. There's also the faster steering ratio steering rack and slightly different mount for that as well.

For $1200, sounds like a pretty safe buy. And it sounds like you're no stranger to a wrench so you should get $1200+ of parts from it if it's not salvageable.

I wonder if bearings are an upcoming issue for this engine. That's not alot of miles but they are hard miles. I would swap a used motor in it and use it as a winter awd vehicle if the end cost wasn't too bad.

I haven't posted save for my first time but after getting my lunch money taken by an Infinity Q50 I've been pondering how I'm gonna go faster. I am no where near any fuel over 91 octane so the tune route is out, which got me thinking effective gear ratios....That interceptor 3.7 has a lower ratio gearbox than both the PP SHO's and non PP at 3:39:1 so one could swap that out and put some 245/40/20's which are an inch shorter and one would conceivably get noticeably more grunt from a dig. Almost a 20% gear ratio increase of the non PP which is what I have.

Methanol, nitrous, cut into opponents lane, put chloroform in their vents, whatever it takes to win... Talk them into buying a dodge... Lol
