Being new to all things in the EB universe, how is LMS achieving basically the same results without pushing the powertrain as hard?

Their claim is they have more access to the cars software compared with other tuners since they have a license with Ford, or something along those lines. If you’re wanting a safe tune that hauls the mail, LMS is very hard to beat and exactly why I am using them.

Livernois typically runs lower boost levels than other tuners, yet they match or beat other's performance. I have seen datalogs of LMS tunes and they look very mild compared to others but when at the track, they perform as well or better.

Given enough logging and revisions, tuners like Unleashed or Brew City Boost may ultimately make a faster tune for the track but it takes quite a bit of tweaking for them to do so. I recall meeting a SHO owner at the track who had gone through 25 tune revisions and he was still slower than my LMS tuned Lincoln MKS. He was logging his runs and sending the logs to Torrie, attempting to improve his performance.

THE FASTEST cars still belong to LMS to date.

It does seem other vendors are improving their offerings, but as previously stated, takes an awful lot of revisions and wear and tear on your OWN CAR in order to achieve those revisions.

Which inevitably leads to more component wear/tear and an even more stringent maintenance regimen than what is already necessary to perform on this platform.

Oh, and Ford Racing installed the AWD dyno's years back into LMS' facility. LMS & FMC have a close working relationship as a result, and YES, LMS does have access to program parameters in the ECM that other vendors do not. This is why, time and time again, LMS tuned cars have been faster, more reliable, and enjoy longevity over the years in comparison to others.

Some have said it's unfair, and some have said not true, but the owner of LMS showed me directly which tables they have exclusive access to, but I don't pretend to be smart enough to remember the technical terms those tables were/are, & out of respect for them as a company, I chose not to photograph the computer screens when it was being explained to me as it is proprietary protected information.

Either way, seems like more vendors have come on board over the years.

But given the depth of involvement that LMS has invested into the ECOBOOST platform(s) in that they offer so many other supportive, go fast products well beyond just tuning (I say "just" lightly) that my own choice has always remained steadfast in their backyard exclusively.

At the time I got my new Continental tuned, Livernois didn't support it so I went to the only tuner who was willing to tune it - AJPturbo. It required a lot of tweaking and each tweak required 2 wide-open throttle pulls - one from a standing start and through the gears - another from 2000 rpm up to redline in 3rd gear. In each case, I was putting wear and tear on the car as well as risking a ticket. The good news is that I learned a lot during the process and I am pleased with the car's performance.

I am very happy than Livernois now has a tune for my 3.0 Continental and I look forward to getting it. Since my car is not an SHO and Livernois has had limited experience with the 3.0 Continental, I am not expecting miracles but I applaud Livernois for finally supporting the 3.0 twin turbo Continental. I was 100% satisfied with their tune for my ecoboost MKS would still recommend them for tuning that platform.

Question for everyone. I notice on LMS the kits come with a 160 degree thermostat, while other places come with or recommend a 170. Living here in Kansas which thermostat is going to be my best option with my driving habits mainly consisting of commuting to work, some spirited driving here and there and the very occasional street light take off with zero interest in seeing the drag strip.

The only reason you’d opt for a 170 is to save money (I did), so either will work just fine.

I never went with a "kit." I ran the stock thermostat until the last year I owned the MKS when I decided to go to the track more often. At that time, I obtained their "race" tune which required the 160.

The 160 LMS sells is a cold side and the 170 is a hot side. How much difference that makes I don't know. I am running the 160.

I'm still currently running a 100% stock 93 tune from LMS and loving it. Night and day difference from un-tuned.

At that time no I had not I only had the tune. I have since gotten the 3 bar,Tstat, and plugs but it was running just fine with just the tune.

did you notice a Big difference with the 3 bar? and do you need a special tune to run or every 91 tune can do it plug and play

Definitely a noticeable difference, doesn't seem to drop off as much on the high end but nothing like going from stock to tuned. You just tell them what mods you have or tell them you're stock and what octane and they send you the tunes.
