Transmission sound.

This sound is a ticking/wrapping or small knocking sound. The sound goes away when the clutch is pushed in though. The degree of ticking is not always the same, it gets louder or quieter depending on if its been driven recently or just idling and on how recent the clutch has been engaged.

Sorry for the confusing post, but it's hard to explain.

BTW -- its a fully rebuilt transmission with only 430 miles and a limited slip differential.

Ya mine does the same thing....The only thing I didn't change was my shift fork so I believe that is the issue. A little excessive play, and the noise is only at idle in Neutral. I was able to get mine to almost disappear with this:

With the car of in first gear, depress the clutch pedal with the tip of you foot, now sldie it out of the way letting the pedal release violently..hehe
Anyways, I did this twice and I barely hear in now. The only way is at a drive thru with the window down from the brick wall.

I have the same thing with a rebuilt trans and quaife diff. Just a slight tick at idle which goes away when the clutch is pressed. I think it could be the fork as described above as mine was not replaced also. I don't worry about it since my clutch and everything else works fine.

well man. i posted about this a little while ago. it is the throw out bearing. it needs to be greased. don't worry about it. it should be ok to just use it. i have the same thing.

The sound is referred ot as "gear rollover'. I think there's an explanataion on the SHOtimes FAW. They all do it, it's normal.
