I was wondering if there were any detailed write ups available as a guide for a transmission teardown and rebuild. I have a 1994 MTX. Currently it has an exploded LSD, but I will be installing a OEM Ford Open Diff. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Shonut has a great quaife install video that pretty much covers tear down and reassembly. Shoot Josh an email for better details.

Oh and it's covered in the helm's manual as well. The video IIRC pretty much follows the manual procedures but you get the visual component which can be quite helpful.

You had an LSD explode on you? Who made it???

Anyway, as mentioned above, Josh sells his $20 video which covers Quaife install and MTX rebuilding. Obviously going back to a stock diff. you won't need 100% of the info, but from all accounts he could have called it "MTX Rebuilding for Dummies".

Of course your ability to rebuild it is going to depend on the extend of the damage the grenading diff. caused. Any holes in the case? Any chunks of gears, etc.?

It was an IPT LSD and yes the case has roughly 5 holes in it.

I have another transmission including case, I do however need a working second gear that I can hopefully obtain from the grenaded one, but time will tell that after I take it off the car.

Thanks for the info on the video, but I really can't spend the $20 (yes i know it's sad, college is $$$). So if there are any written documents or anything of that nature your input would be more than appreciated.

Thanks again,
Dan
