91 sho mtx w/ 85k miles. all origional.
It started with a little ticking noise in nuetral with the clutch de-pressed. Then went away. Then a few weeks later I could not get my car in 1st from nuetral at a stop. I was able to force it in after a few, but I would hear grinding when going into 2nd/3rd kinda like the sound of going into reverse.
When I got it home I had a loud ticking in Neutral without the cluch pressed.
I put it into gear to park and heard a loud bang, then stalled. Now it starts with the clutch pressed but stall when released, Neutral and all gears.

I have a new clutch and old tranny on my 93 mtx parts car. and I am thinking about pulling the motor/trans and clutch out. I have never replaced a trans or clutch. It should be loads of fun. I am not sure where the problem is though. Also there is always a little whine in second gear. Sound almost like revearse. I would appreciate some advice. You guys have been great. I can't believe I got this far on the 91mtx with help from the forum. Thanks!!

Time for a clutch job. My guess is that you're TOB has eaten through the pressure plate finger's. Hope the tranny is ok.

I want to say it sounds like one of your gears locked up on the output shaft due to lack of fluid from either no fluid, or a piece of metal/sealant clogging the **** holes on the output shaft. If that's the problem, it's a tranmission problem.

The loud bang, if it's what I say the problem is, was the transmission gear locking up and coming to a complete stop, stalling the engine. Been there, done that. :shappens:

From what it sounds like you both are right there is a bright side not really though it isn't that hard to pull them just some time. I do bet a 100 to 1 that your clutch is done. Inspect your trannie, I would just go ahead and pull it since you will already have it pulled back for the clutch.
