Long story short, I and a friend were transporting a 1989 and 1990 SHO to AZ, and we had some problems. The 89 ran perfectly, the 90 not so much. The details I will list in another thread. Suffice it say, by the time we were near the NM/AZ border, I had called the buyer of the 90 and told him I would have to return his money as we had no way to get the car the rest of the way (to Glendale). But, we pressed on, got in contact with Tom, and he welcomed us with open arms, even though he was out of town. He told us we had full use of the shop, a guest house, the cold beer in the fridge, etc. His sister had a note for us on the gate to guide us in, had the AC cooling down the garage already, and showed us the lay of the land (she got a big hug). After all the trouble we had getting there, I literally felt close to tears when we finally were relaxing in the garage, with cold beer in hand, AC blowing, the stress of the road behind us. And beyond that, we were unable to get the car finished before we had to leave, and Tom has agreed to install the part I am sending.
Sadly, we were unable to meet up with Tom later, but the respite his shop provided us gave us the energy to continue our trip. In all honesty, the car problems were almost a blessing, as the stop at Tom's was a highlight of the weekend. Tom, thank you thank you thank you. I feel deeply indebted. In this community, with so many helpful and friendly folks, you stand out above us all. We are very fortunate to have you.
