I've just snagged some nice wheels off e-bay. They are 17x7.5" Moda Radius Rims off a Volvo R60.

My question is what size tire should I use? I checked TireRack and they recommend a 225/50-17 size for my Gen1 SHO, but this seems a bit small. I know a lot of you are running larger sizes, but I worry about them fitting my car. I'm running a fairly stock suspension set-up. Appreciate any suggestions and/or photo examples(hopefully offered in a helpful manner:angelnot:). :salute:

If you do not want to do any cutting or trimming down of the driver side rear trim (On the rear wheel well) I would suggest a 225/50/17. This also depends on the offset.

That's a great deal off eBay for $102.50. With the offset of 38mm, you will be safe to run 225/50/17's.
Also, those Moda's don't clear the 13" brake upgrade.

As stated above it depends a lot on the offset. I've run 245/45-17's on Tbird Cobra's without rubbing and with a different set and new strut assemblies they won't fit on the back's. go figure

You have to remember DJ has a Gen 1. The trim for the Sideskirts protrude in to the fenderwell. This is mainly a issue on the left side because of the weight of the driver will push the driver side down even more then the Gas tank and tranny does causing some 17'' Tires to rub. Generally, Just grinding it down a little bit fixes the issue. However, With a 225/50/17 on a wheel with a 38mm offset he MAY be ok. Even if it does rub, It will be very minimal.

They are stated to be a 38 offset. Would the 7.5" width cause any problems? My concern is that the 225/50-16 tire would be too small on that width wheel.

I'm just running a 96' BigBrake upgrade.

if they are the same as my volvo wheels, which are Almathea's

then you defintely need spacers... I've never tried to run it without spacers in the rear but its pretty damn close to the strut now

without spacers in the front, the tire sidewall hits the swaybar endlink

I run 235-45-17 tires on mine without issues, although mine is a gen2. I will be running 225-50-17 next time around as I have some Michelins already here in that size.

I don't see why these 17's wouldn't clear cobra brakes..... anyone care to elaborate on that?
