Tin noise from exhaust

Anyone else get a tinny noise after installing catted downpipes? I'm thinking the cat(s) is defective maybe? Front 2-3kish rpm its car sounds like a angry bee honda civic. It wasn't doing it when I originally picked it up after the pipes were made or I never noticed it in the excitement of having them done.

might be some part of a break in did you try asking the manufacturer?

Does it sound like vibrating? Maybe a bolt didn't get torqued down, also, might be some part of a break in did you try asking the manufacturer?

Not a mass produced set, had them custom made at local shop. Already have an email sent out, but they are only open m-f 8-5

Nope, wasn't there one day, and was there the next. Hasn't gotten louder or quieter.

That's what I call the trumpet zone. What every 3.5 Ecoboost goes through when they start modifying their exhaust. I've just learned to accept it. It's rasp.

I mean like when the noise started did the exhaust note around the headers get louder? I'm thinking maybe something slipped loose and you have a slight air leak

Nothing like that, but again I may have just never noticed it until now and I can't unhear it. With all the exhaust changes jordan has had, I'm sure his insight is accurate. It's certainly not something I can't live with since the car is out of that range quickly. It only does it under load so, I will just deal!

usually that is a loose heat shield on a cat or exhaust pipe in my experience. They are typically just spot welded in a few places, and its really easy for one of those spot welds to break loose.

No heat shields attached to anything other than the exhaust manifolds and their bolted on. Can check but I'm 99% positive it's the ecoboost no go area.

After downpipes installation it's basically the point of no return. It drove me insane. Wrapping the downpipes helped and putting resonators on basically killed it except the by-product of the resonators I chose were they were bassy to the point of unpleasance. Just can't win! Anywho check it over and report back on your findings. I'm curious if my hunch is correct or not

Thats hilarious and so true. Either light throttle or full throttle. Anything in between for me is in that trumpet zone. I'm also catless however. You just learn to work around it. Lol.

Glad I'm seeing this, I was planning to wrap my headers anyways but I may look at throwing some soundproofing on the bottom of the car while I have the pipes off

Intersting. When I added my PPE catted DP's not much at all changed in the sound of my exhaust. Same thing either my custom mid pipes.
