timing

i have lined up the timing marks on the belt with all the other marks....when i try to start it jumps. i just can't figure it out.

What marks? Both cams should be at 12 O clock, dots on cam pullies lined up with lines above them. Crank pulley has a small dot that should be at about 5 O clock, and lined up with a bump in the casting behind it. There is a procedure to correctly tension the belt, see Shotimes FAQ.
